Unlike half the idiots on here, I recognize the difference between football and the universities within the state. The dumbasses who claim they want the other school to burn to the ground, are on par with Harvey Updyke. What benefits the citizens of the State of Alabama should be a priority to every taxpayer. Knowing what is going on in the state should be important, getting information from somewhere/someone other than tiderinsider, Eli Gold, ITAT, The Bunker is sign of intelligence. The citizens of the state are being cheated out of a chance for a quality education, due to the egos of a few people. Where do you stand on this subject?

That is the response I expected from you. Have you checked the cost of a 4 year degree for an in-state student in Alabama ?

A lot of that is offset by financial aid and the plethora of scholarships Alabama gives out, especially compared to say, Auburn.
Why don't yall give very many scholarships? Don't you care about education?

Pretty sure you have no clue what you're talking about.
How did you make all that up? That's a creative little short-story you have there.

So if you do not qualify for a scholarship, you do not have a right to a higher education ? Or is UA given it out like candy ? Did you go to school on a full scholarship ? How many families do you know can afford to go in debt $100K per child to go to school.

So will handing out diplomas like they were condoms at the free clinic.
It's empirically demonstrable that Alabama is both a better school and a harder school to get into than LSU.

Jesus Christ. That's quite the tinfoil hat you have. I thought you were trolling until now.

Bernie Sanders platform. No, but for instate tuition to increase 30 fold over a 25 year period is criminal. I know quit a few kids who are going to Alabama without scholarships, but their families can afford it. When the average household income is less than $50K, their will be many citizens of Alabama left out in the cold. But the taxpayers will continue to pay for the buildings and roads on campus, like they have for generations. Only now those buildings are being use to educate kids from NY, TX and other states, while they struggle to send their kids to CC.

Not everyone is going to be able to attend UA. There are other schools that can pick up the slack, such as Auburn. Or the myriad of JUCO's and Community Colleges.

Only 15% of UA's operating budget is funded by the legislature, and that number decreases every year. Without the influx of out of state cash, in-state tuition would rise even faster than it does now.

Another quality response, while dodging the questions I asked. My guess is you are just old enough to have completed college on your parents money, but not old enough to have college age children. Size and NC are all that matters to you.

What % would that number be if they had 20K students and an equivalent support structure ? The in-state tuition had to increase to keep up with the expansion. It is a matter of charging the max acceptable rate to out of state students, then passing off the rest to the instate students. That is why is keeps going up.

Sounds like Auburn. You should examine their budget and get us a number. How much has AU's in-state tuition increased, despite being 90% Alabama kids?
I'd imagine the cost is tracking comparably to UA, which would shoot holes all through your theory.

I said the problems are not limited to UAt, it is statewide. Only the rednecks on here want to defend them because of some loyalty to the football program.
