Oh I'm sorry I meant to say whichever team runs the ball wins and this will be a low scoring game.

I'll tell you a secret about Saturday night, the offense that goes one-dimensional is in a whole lot of trouble. Stop the running game and it gets a whole lot easier. Both defenses will have to go Nickel and the first team that can't invoke its will on the ground in this game is going to get their feelings hurt.
Texas will have to open up the running game by hitting some deep shots. Against Rice Ewers didn't show that off-season deep ball progress we all heard about. Bama will be able to run merely because of their dual threat QB. Advantage Bama. Texas has a shot, but so much has to go right.

I really liked what I saw week 1 from our guys though, and TX seemed to struggle at times with Rice.

As a UT fan, my biggest worry is our OL steps on their dildos again. That was by far the biggest issue on offense against rice.

If they are at least average then we have a great game on our hands. With that said, even though our OL forgot how to play football the entire first half against Rice, we still had more yards against them than Bama against MTSU so there’s that.

We scored TDs on 6 of 8 possessions with the first unit (and 8 of 11 possessions overall) and averaged over 8 yards per play in non-garbage time.

I see Texas winning. Anyone can get up for this game. Texas does have the talent to beat bama. But Texas still doesn’t win the big 12 in their final year I bet. This will be like the Texas UGA game a few years ago. Texas won but clearly isn’t back.

I think Texas & Alabama have similar decencies. Our offensive line performances last week left a lot to be desired. I think depth in the front 7 for both is a bit unproven at this point. QB, both still not entirely sure what they have. I think both QBs are going to need an ice bath after this game.

How UT handles the trip will be interesting. UT isnt visiting some 50k dump in the Big 12 Sat night
Yes, it will be interesting visiting the larger du.., oops, venues of the SEC. Just kidding!!!

Texas has the players, let's see what Sark's wide open playbook looks like.

Of the 5 teams Texas played in the B12 South, Texas was the main rival of 4 of them. Though the venues are smaller, the games still have a distinct intensity & home field advantage.

Against the B12 South, Texas won 69% on the road, 74% at home, and 65% overall. OU is a neutral site game. Texas has a winning road record against other every B12 South opponent. Keeping in mind, this includes the worst decade in over 100 years.

Texas v. the B12 South
........................Away....Home....Total
Texas TTU..........10-4....10-3....20-7
Texas OKST........9-4....8-4....17-8
Texas TAMU.........6-2....5-3....11-5
Texas BAY...........8-5....11-2....19-7
Texas OU................................11-16
Texas Totals....33-15....34-12....78-43
.......................69%......74%......65%

Texas was also 4-0 in Lincoln, 3-0 in Boulder & 3-2 in Columbia.

For a comparison, against the B12 South, Aggy won 40% on the road, 60% at home, and 50% overall. They had losing road records against Texas, OU & TTech, and winning road records against OkSt & Baylor.

Aggy v. the B12 South
........................Away....Home....Total
TAMU TTU..........2-6....4-4....6-10
TAMU OKST........5-3....5-3....10-6
TAMU OU............1-7....4-4....5-11
TAMU TEXAS.....2-6....3-5....5-11
TAMU BAY...........6-2....8-0....14-2
TAMU Totals....16-24....24-16....40-40
.......................40%......60%......50%

Should be a kick-arse game.

If Sark does pull this one out, it definitely makes the national title picture very murky. I have no reason to believe Texas will remain consistent enough to not drop a game or two, even if we leave Tuscaloosa with a win.
