Whatever opposition the various CRAs and the Fair Housing Act faced, it was pretty much a given that the opposition was socially "conservative" in nature.

In the end, the parties became more clearly defined rather than coalitions of liberals and conservatives like they had been before. Liberals migrated to the democrats, and conservatives to the republicans. The liberal Rs, the "Rockefeller republicans" essentially evaporated, and so have the "blue dog democrats," though they lingered for far longer and still do to some degree in fellows like Manchin.

Every place has its positives and negatives. They have beautiful places and not so beautiful places. Take Colorado for example, you can’t argue that the Rockies are breath taking, but eastern Colorado is flat nothing. I’d love to have a cabin in the mountains, but I would only be able to access it 4 months out of the year and it would have a dirt road and no utilities. If I lived in Colorado Springs or Denver, I’d pay a larger percentage of my income on housing versus the south. I’d also have to deal with snow and ice in my driveway all winter.

Point - all places have positives and negatives. It depends on what you like.

I have lived in 10 states and have visited nearly every State, I wouldn’t want to live in any of those top 10. I know many people who are trying to get the hell out of them anf move to Alabama.
