No way Alabama is in the bottom half in natural beauty.
I live in Virginia, and I agree if you’re not in NoVA it is certainly top 10, but Nebraska also top 10? Seems off.

High populations of lives that matter bring down your ranking?
Who knew!

Don’t understand this one at all. Hard to justify that with Texas’ economy.

You do realize that for most of their history all those states were Deep Blue. That is when all the damage was done, and we are just now starting to fix it.

The democrats used to be a coalition of conservatives and liberals. The conservatives formed the party's backbone in the south for nearly a century. When the dems shifted to the left, first with FDR and Truman economically, then on Civil Rights, the "solid south" fell apart. The CRA of 1964 was pretty much the final straw.
These states have always been conservative. Only thing that changed was the label.

I live in Alabama and proud of it. Life is what you make it. the south is a great place to live !!

So the number 1 best State is Washington and the number 3 is Minnesota? Yes Minneapolis and Seattle seem like excellent places to live.
I’m sure you also think the media lies, yet will stand behind the idea that those places suck because of what you see from the media. Minneapolis and Seattle are both amazing cities... comments like that one you made stem from envy.

It's almost like there's more to a state then one city

You couldn't pay me to live in Minneapolis even before it got burned to the ground. Seattle otoh I think the natural scenery makes up for the preponderance of liberals

The problem with rankings like these... is that they don't reflect the reality of the makeup of the state. but that's the problem everywhere, right?
Alabama basically has three main sections, the Gulf Coast, North Alabama, and everything in the middle. the Gulf Coast is a wonderful place to be. North Alabama is awesome. The middle part of the state... not so much. In fact, you could probably take out the numbers for 8-10 counties and the overall state rankings would go up five slots. No kidding.
I live in North Alabama, where the job market is incredible right now. Homes are booming. Education is generally very solid, both K-12 and post secondary as well. Manufacturing is very solid, technology is incredibly strong. The environmental diversity and outdoor opportunity is amazing. The cost of living here is very moderate and the overall tax burden is low. The only two changes I regret is that this is known as the "kidney stone belt" and I wish we had an east-west interstate cutting through. But other than that, there are VERY few places in the US that I'd rather live at. It's incredible that so many military brass and contractors retire in the area because they come back to the area they love.
That's why I take state rankings very lightly - they are simply not reflective at the reality level of how people actually select where they live. If you disagree, maybe you think all of New York is just like Manhatten and Long Island. Or that Maine is all just like their Southern coast. I'm sure Michigan loves their numbers being dragged down by those fabulous property values in Detroit. All of Nevada ain't just like Las Vegas. You can't even access Alaska's state capital from the rest of the state by road. And so forth. It's a foolish ranking methodology - there is simply too much variation out there.

I actually like the proposed new Mississippi state flag.

I’m 45. I’ll retire in maybe twenty-two years or so. I plan on retiring to either central Alabama around Lake Martin or somewhere around east central Mississippi where I grew up. The natural beauty of Alabama and Mississippi is second to none. The cost of living can’t be beat. There’s no congested traffic. The people are the nicest and friendliest. Places like Washington and Minnesota are over-priced, leftist hell holes.

As do I. I agree with your statement. I have lived and traveled in many states, and I finally moved my business to Huntsville because it is primarily involved with military and aerospace.
I was born and raised in east central Alabama.

No, it does not. My cousin lived there for seven years but quit her high-paying job and escaped about twenty years ago. Anyone in Seattle that even thinks a non-Liberal thought is shamed and blackballed from society there.

Washington and Minnesota are in top 3 - the list is shite

Thank God for Mississippi...
