Doubt it. Unlike Auburn, Bama does not have a serious discipline problem destroying the program from within that requires harsh punishments for petty crimes like weed possession.

So much utterly stupid shite in this single post.

I will just sit here and laugh at that for a while

All Bama fans, or just some? If only some, which ones? Do you have a link?

Relax. I was just being sarcastic. Sorry if that didn't come across.

I remember a few Bama fans taking the "holier than thou" stance during the IC debacle. Not all, just a few. I'm not going to look for a link.

I'm only repeating what AU fans are admitting themselves. AU had major discipline problems under Chizik and Malzahn is rightfully going with a no excuses no exceptions policy in his first year in order to establish his identity and control of the program. Saban had to deal with the same problems his first few years, but our program is now in a place where expulsion is not needed for a first time DUI.

IIRC, Auburn actually lead for Gene Smith early in the process, but he later named Alabama his favorite, committed, and then signed. I do remember him getting torched by JaQuay Williams in some camps which had all of us Auburn fans excited, but now he plays for Texas A&M. I was also looking forward to them finally meeting up on the field again, but Gene Smith may be suspended for the game now.

That'll probably go to Vanderbilt.

That said, maybe we can pull a page from the Baton Rouge playbook and get a judge to reduce the charge.

You are correct. DUI is much worse

I respect Auburn's coach for what he did, especially if the weed problem is only half of what some of the allegations of what was going on within the team were. I also understand the message he is sending at this point of his career.

But to think DUI is okay because you have a seasoned coach is not a good mindset at all. Like several others have said, there is a law against driving under the influence because offenders can not only harm themselves, they can injure or kill other adults and their children.

I'm not going to say what the penalty should be, I don't know the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident of DUI are at Alabama, but I do think something should be done and I'm sure Saban will do something about it. Even if he doesn't do it publicly, his doghouse is usually just as bad or worse than suspension. For instance: practices are closed the majority of the time. He could pretty much kill him in practice for what he feels is the overall team good. If you've ever played the game, you understand what I'm talking about.

This. Thank you. Sometimes the dog house is way worse than sitting for a game or two.

Geno was the big twitterer as a recruit which rubbed some the wrong way.

Stupid choice, but he'll learn from it.
