I'm not surprised the student section isn't of epic proportions. I use to go to the games (for free) almost every good weather weekday home game and there may not have been 100-200 students there. Those were NCAA regional teams too

The dynamic is totally different with right field now. It's the thing to do now, it wasn't even on the radar before.

I guess y'all shot your wad on the stadium and that's why you don't have an announcer for the SEC Network, and still only one camera? Bama can put on a better show than that.

Yea, I was pretty dissapointed with that Saturday and Sunday. The Friday night game was "SECN+" which used all the cameras and had Lance Cormier and some other guy doing the broadcast, but I guess if it isn't an "SECN+" game then they just show a live feed?

Either way, it sucked.

Maybe the administration is just scared of what it could become due to our "party school" reputation and just want to keep it toned down but I think they are missing an opportunity for great autmosphere in the outfield if they made a student section berm or something of this sort.

You think LSU is a party school relative to Ole Miss and Bama? I understand that Cajuns drink, but the sheer volume of cocaine done at both of those schools would make and tiger blush.

BDS is a basically finished thing that obviously generates fantastic revenue without additional major renovations needed right now. I'd have to guess the next project would involve a women's team facility.

Swimming and diving has a new facility on the drawing board.

Pictures don't really do the stadium justice. I'd seen pictures, but when I drove by a few weeks back it took my breath away. So nice!

Students better go support. Y'all are the only ones who can afford it, from what i've heard.

Really wish we had spent 40 million towards a new basketball facility that would actually get used.

Baseball has been promised updates for over a decade. Nothing had been done since Alabama was making trips to Omaha in the late 90s. It was time. Basketball had a major renovation in 2005/06. Shouldn't have spent $30 million on an eye sore then. Plus the practice facility for basketball was built in 2010 or so.

Wow. Did they just totally hire the firm that redid Ole Miss's stadium and say "We want that exact same stadium?"

Kind of odd. It looks good though

My understanding is there were site visits to LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. There's also homage paid to historic Rickwood Field in the design.

It's on the same spot of land but the old stadium was completely razed. It's also been turned ever so slightly more towards the east.
It's alright. It's not and will never be the Box or Blue Bell but for us it's pretty nice. Heck, I thought those renovations in the 90's were pretty nice.

Still amazed at job @AlabamaBSB did on its park. If you aren't SC, LSU, Arkansas, A&M you're on notice from a facilities standpoint in SEC

Hopefully the gumps bought another TV camera. That one camera production last year reminded me of someone broadcasting the game on a cell phone.

It is HUGE for Bama - the students will fill the right field now.

Looks great!

Except for the script A, that's nauseating.

I really wish Foley would cough up the money for a new baseball stadium. It's much needed at UF.

Bama fans, was it built on the exact site of the old one? One the things we have an issue is no more land on campus.

ETA: Looks very nice.

I also love the new stadium in Birmingham for the Barons. That's awesome for downtown.

Is baseball self-sustaining at UF? I know you guys have had a problem with attendance.

I'm not sure how close to break even it is or isn't.

Here's the problem as I see it. You have your hard core fans (not 5k of them mind you) that are going to attend no matter what. They are "all in".

The challenge becomes turning the casual fans and the students into more devoted fans. The stadium is nearly unbearable in full sun when the temps get to the mid 80s. Forget temps in the 90s. It is unbearable with the humidity.

The place is a sterile unappealing boxish venue. They did some nice renovations several years back but it's still lipstick on a pig.

If they build a modern stadium (doesn't have to be 12k seats) I firmly believe that attendance will rise.

One of the challenges in Florida is every damn thing has to be an event. It just can't be a game.

ETA: There is zero shade for the fans.

No place to hide from the sun.
