As a current student at UT I can assure nobody on campus really cares about the Lady Vols. Mainly old lady Tennesseans follow them. I respect Summit and what she did for so many future female athletes who got a chance to earn a scholarship. I just don't care about the sport and neither does anyone else.
This is a lie. The lady Vols attendance suggest they are more popular then all but 4 SEC schools in basketball (Including Bama). I'm guessing the Vols and Lady Vols don't share the same fan base.

I'm not denying they have a huge following. But those are just random elderly locals mostly. Just saying students at the actual university aren't the ones supporting it.

please list which schools fall into the "most" category

I'd say Tennessee cares more than all but UK and maybe Arkansas.

And I think that's asinine and pretty biased

Have you seen UF's facilities? I interned there, and they are next level. LSU also has a fairly rich basketball tradition. I'd say LSU is on UT's level in terms of fan base and AD support.

Tennessee has averaged between 15 and 19K fans every year for the last 10 years.
2nd in the SEC in attendance 9 of the last 10 years
Top 5 nationally in attendance 7 of the last 10 years.
Where would you rank us?

Idk, I wouldn't try to rank anyone. I don't know enough about the support from most schools. But I don't think fan attendance is the end-all-be-all either. What I do know is that UF pours money into their facilities and recruiting budget for basketball. Not quite as sure on LSU, I'd have to look up a few things.

Tickets aren't exactly expensive, and a good portion of the SEC doesn't care about basketball.

Not completely there are some Vol fans who don't support the LVs but for the most part LV fans are Vol fans and vice versa. Campus is it's own thing and students weren't so hot on supporting any basketball team this year.

Tennessee job is better. I doubt Tennessee gets a better coach. They put no effort into the last two hire and I doubt they put any into this one.

Yes. I've been to multiple games at the O Dome and seen their practice facility. Last went to a game there during Cuonzo's tenure. Florida's basketball facilities and fan base are not on Tennessee's level. Sure they are the better program, but no way do I buy that they are invested as much from a fan base perspective.
LSU could not even fill a 13K building for SEC games this season despite having an NCAA Tourney team.

Tennessee was 12 in the nation this year in attendance with 15,475. This during a shitty year.
LSU was ranked 49th 8,910. This during their best season in years.
UK, UT and Arky were the only schools in the top 25.

Again, fan support is your end-all-be-all here. As a Tennesseean, I know that from Jackson TN to Johnson City, the vast majority of people are Vols fans. I'd assume y'all could fill an arena. There aren't MTSU and Memphis fans all over the place. UF is competing with a ton of other major universities for fan support.
LSU pretty much runs the state, but let's face it, south LA is poor as frick. They just don't go to a lot of games outside of football.
I won't argue in LSU's favor, because you have a leg to stand on. But I don't think UT (as a university or fans) cares about basketball more than Florida. And fan support should not be the only form of measurement, as other factors play a role.

Again, fan support is not an end-all-be-all here. Recruiting budgets, facility renovations, branding, etc all show how much a school cares about a given program.
UF competes for fan support and UT has a monopoly from about Jackson to Johnson City. Vandy fans are rare outside of Nashville.
eta derailed the thread, so need to answer the OP. UT is the better job, no question.

UT had a run because of Pearl, and you guys think you are Kentucky.

Winning brings the fan base out. Let's take a look at LSU's attendance when Simmons is playing next year and LSU is ranked in the top 25…
