Which job is a better hoops job? Both schools have very comporable history and recruiting areas. While football will always be the life blood at both schools, I feel like in general UA and UT care more about basketball overall than most other SEC schools.

Normally I would honestly say Tennessee for me, but now I don't know cause we are currently being neurterd by our dope of an AD in Dave Hart. I think Alabama could offer a lot in basketball and their leadership actually seems to try and win at all costs. However Tennessee has danced 7 times in the past decade and has shown signs of a program being capable of being a fixture in the Big Dance.

What say y'all?

Right now, I'd stay the hell away from Tennessee.

You wouldn't have to live under the shadow of the women's team at Alabama.

The way I look at how good of a job may be is visualize our top tier coach in that job. After visualizing Bruce Pearl at each school, I couldn't see him being the coach at either one. Therefore Auburn is the right answer to your question.

As a current student at UT I can assure nobody on campus really cares about the Lady Vols. Mainly old lady Tennesseans follow them. I respect Summit and what she did for so many future female athletes who got a chance to earn a scholarship. I just don't care about the sport and neither does anyone else.

Don't fool yourself. Bruce Pearl would go back to Knoxville in a New York minute.

It's "in the shadow" , not "under the shadow".

I'm not fooled by anything. I just simply answered a question from the OP. I used sound logic in doing so. I didn't expect everyone to agree with my truth, but that is okay.

Pre 2000 - Bama

The last 15 years - Tennessee

AU hiring Bruce was big for Alabama Basketball though IMO. I'd say Battle feels compelled to go grab a solid hire simply not to be outdone by AU.

I would think they're about even right now since Tennessee has the edge in recent support and facility but Alabama may have the better AD situation.

However, when threads come up discussing the differences in almost all SEC jobs aside from Kentucky, the thing that strikes me reading all the back and forth arguments is that there's really not much difference.

A great coach, supported by the AD, can have success at any SEC school but, at the same time, an average coach isn't going to be helped out by any inherent advantages anywhere except Kentucky either.
