I don't know about recruiting budgets (can be skewed as well fwiw), but do you not think Tennessee has better facilities than UF?
Much, much nicer and bigger arena (although both schools are renovating this offseason) and a newer and bigger practice facility?

UF's main strength and conditioning facilities where the football team lifts is used by all athletes besides basketballs
basketball's is across the street where no one except basketball can workout, and they have their own set of strength coaches. All other strength coaches work at least 2-3 sports, with the exception of football strength coaches (obviously)
or that's how it was back in 2010. I've seen UT's, and they are legit as hell. But I remember interning at UF and thinking how crazy it was that they pretty much secluded basketball from all other sports.
eta I won't claim that UF or LSU > UT in terms of support, but I don't think it's as clear cut as some would like to think. And as we've both said, a lot of factors would need to be weighed.

UT had a run because of Pearl, and you guys think you are Kentucky.
Jerry Green and Cuonzo Martin both made Sweet 16s at Tennessee in the last 15 years. Let's not pretend Pearl is the only guy capable of having success here.

Yeah, there's always a lot of decent points back in forth in arguing why certain programs are better but, in the end, there's just not much difference in the SEC schools after Kentucky.
The only people who are wrong are the one's saying all the better (or maybe all of them period) SEC jobs aren't pretty closely grouped.
What recent history makes abundantly clear is that a great coach, supported by the AD, can have success at any SEC school but, at the same time, an average coach isn't going to be helped out much by any large inherent advantages anywhere except Kentucky either.

I think those are very fair points. UK is on the level of Duke and Syracuse.
UK
the rest of the SEC
UK
the rest of the SEC

BUT I do think that UF is now accustomed to success, and would put forth the money and effort to stay relevant more so than most other schools in the SEC.

Auburn and UT have the same number of elite 8 appearances, with UT having only 2-3 more sweet sixteen's. Let's not have emotional posts, and over look the actual stats.

That may well be true. Certainly agree that they would put forth more effort than a lot of the SEC.
My only hesitation would be that many would have said something similar about Arkansas after Richardson.

Thanks for proving my point. UT is not a basketball school, and is not on the level with Bama, Arky, or UF. So back to my point; no, OP, UT is not a better BB program than Bama.

Again, fan support is not an end-all-be-all here. Recruiting budgets, facility renovations, branding, etc all show how much a school cares about a given program.
UK, UT and Arky are the only teams in the top 20 of the most valuable college basketball programs.
UK-3
UT-15
Arky-20
Attendance and value of the program should be a pretty good metric for how much a school cares about it's program.

When you add facilities, program value and fan support........I would agree.

I'm just curious but who has more basketball support in Tennessee. Memphis Tigers or the Vols

Right now, Bama. Much more money, more stable, no recent NCAA troubles.

They play in a hangar though.

bama isn't that stable. They have an interim school president and a 80 year old athletic director
