Do A&M folks secretly, away from rivals, kind of shake their head at it or is it a serious, deeply held tradition? Also, do all of you who are alums know all the cheers by heart? Is that a thing you learn as an undergrad and never forget or do you quit paying attention to it once you graduate and are out of the student section?
Yell Leader Traditions
Never knew the specifics of all of these
Various cheers include :
- Gig 'em
- Aggies
- Farmers Fight
- Military
- Old Army
- Locomotive
- Kyle Field
- Sky Rocket
- Beat the Hell
- Fifteen for Team
- Horse Laugh
- Team
- Bus Driver
quote:
"Each yell leader group adds a little flavor," says Ronnie McDonald, who was a yell leader in 1992. "Some of them want to go old school, so they'll look at old film and see how the old yell leaders used to do it. You have guys like Bill Youngkin who work with the yell leaders to make sure they're holding the basic traditions."

How seriously did y'all take the Ole Miss losses the past two years?

I've forgotten which hand sign corresponds to each yell. But once I hear the first few words, I can pick up from there.

They teach it to you at fish camp.

You typically don't do yells if you aren't a student.

Those were really the things I was curious about. I didn't think the whole stadium did most of the yells, but I wasn't sure what the relation between alums outside the section was with the yells and the leaders.
Thanks

I'm what's called a 2%er. I cheer like normal fans, sing our song, sometimes yell when the visiting team is on 3rd down, especially bigger 3rd downs. I don't "hump it" and do all the yells.
That's about it.
That's about it.

Except for the one that looked like a serial killer either last year or the year before. He had that forced smile and you can see on his face he wanted to murder people. Very Dexteresque.
Other than that They can pull my pud when ever they want.

Yeah, SoG doesn't really troll. By rant standards, he's a damn saint.
Though I do find it kinda funny that the yell leaders can't even be brought up without the expectation that it's a troll.

Someone that doesn't partake in every single tradition/yell every time.
IDGAF.
ETA: I didn't go to fish camp. Didn't care to. Had better things to do with my summer.
