We also have the Century Tree. If you walk under the tree with your sweetheart, you will both live happily ever after. If you walk under alone, you'll never find love.

Serious question...
What exact level of low self esteem must you have as a Texas fan to post on a SEC forum?

The Horseshoe was created by the MTSU Student Ambassadors, to establish a new campus tradition. A penny from 1911, the year the university was founded, was dropped into the ground under the statue, which is what supplies the good luck for those who touch the Blue Horseshoe. Alumni, students and fans are encouraged to touch the Blue Horseshoe for good luck before an event - such as the big game, performance, student organization function or even before a test class presentation. The horseshoe shape was chosen for 3 reasons: 1) Our athletic mascot, Lightning is a horse; 2) We are in a region of the country especially known for Tennessee Walking horses; and 3) Most of all, it is already a symbol associated with good luck.

"I can honestly tell you I didn't see that a single time during my 4 years at A&M."
What's the story behind it? I've heard various versions.. & seen it by the corp only

Grandfather was Gen Neyland's right hand guy on his first teams.. Mom's side all SEC with ties to Bama & UGA programs.
Father was @ UT under Royal.. big CFB family.
As to the self esteem question.. I'll ask you about self awareness.

Idk man I wasn't in the Corps. I didn't even see that picture till I came here.
Corps make underclassmen do some embarassing stuff, I assume that's what it is.

Great for them. But what ties do YOU have to the SEC (or Texas)?

Do A&M folks secretly, away from rivals, kind of shake their head at it or is it a serious, deeply held tradition?
The average person isn't as serious about it as rivals want us to be.
You can't not notice the yells when it is happening 40k at a time, but only the students really pay attention to the yell leaders and do the yells.
Never heard of nut squeezing or jizz jars until I read about it on the internet.

the great irony of the situation is that other schools care aaaaa loooottttt more about them then we do. sure, theres your mr corps mcturdface who takes them seriously but 95% of the student body treats it no differently than any other school does to any of their game day stuff

From a good source... old school thing from the days of all male campus "to focus" & "feel the intensity the team needs". Lost in the shuffle for the most part aside from the current corp. I guess there's a yell that pops up on occasion "squeeze 'em" but most don't know the back story.

100% of SEC student bodies outside of College Station don't bend over, link shoulders & sing about a rival they no longer play.

Your source sucks.

Yeah because they have their own weird traditions to uphold.
For example, 7.14% of SEC students demand that their opponent suck their male mascot's penis.
And people think we Aggies are weird!

You don't understand, wanting another guy to suck your dick makes the other guy gay.

None of which require bending over, locking arms and singing about a rival "they don't care about".
