That didn't disprove anything I said. All it stated was that 1/3 will not see much betting, 1/3 has equal action and the other 1/3 is lopsided. That doesn't say anything about what the goal is behind setting the line. It is just disproving equal action takes place on both sides, which I never said actually happens. Just that it was the goal when creating lines.

The title of the articles is "8 MYTHS ABOUT BETTING ON FOOTBALL". The first line is the myth. Then it goes on to explain why it is a myth.

Wouldn't our confidence be coming from actually beating a ranked opponent?

It is disputing the myth that action is equal on every line. That isn't what I said. I said it was the goal for it to be set equally.

It's not. But of course AU's defensive performance against Clemson was a fluke because they are all of a sudden Auburn 2012, 2 games away from the NC and losing almost nobody.

Yes they have. They are playing much better fundamentally, tackling better, pursuing better, and they don't look fricking lost out there. They're stronger up front and have depth. The position coaches whoever they are did a damn good job in the off-season.

This is true.

While the jury is still out on Clemson and if they're just not playing well this year, our defense is better. If anyone that has watched any amount of Auburn football over the past 5+ years, watches this defense, it's obvious to see.

I think Travis Williams at LB coach is a great thing for us. He's got our LB's playing like he did when he played for us back in the early 00's. No more bad angles. No more waiting for the play to come to them. These guys are really getting after it.

The DL is as deep as I can remember. We played 11 against Clemson on the DL and there was no visible drop off at any point. We're not getting the sacks we'd like to see, but both teams we've played have had running QB's and were throwing quick passes for the most part, so they would have been hard to come by anyway. We are doing a good job of holding the line and letting our LB's come in and do what they need to do, which is not what has happened in the past few years. Our DT's would get blown off the ball and we'd have a LB taking on a 315 lb OG, which is almost never going to end well. That's not really happening this year.

My biggest concern in the game this weekend is can our DB's keep the passing game in check and can our OL hold off A&M's DE's.

That is impossible. Just take this Auburn line for example. Who thought Auburn would be the favorite before the line came out? Do you honestly think vegas put out this line to get even money on both sides?

Arkansas State actually has a good bit of talent on their D. Including 5* DT Dee Liner, former Bama player. UCLA is not a good defense. It's not a stretch to argue Arkansas State has a better D.

They've given up damn near 1,300 yrds between Toledo & AU. Their D isn't much "better" than but a handful of teams right now.

Game tape man, and a whole off season to game plan.

Clemson has taken a drop off how far isn't known yet, they will taken to the woodshed when they play FSU though. Or are you saying this Clemson team looks like they will be playoffs at the end of the year, in that case

Most of the time it is but that is the goal. Most of it works itself out though because of the line moving with the bets.

Agreed. There's not really any outward optimism for Auburn yet...BUT we're just happy there is at least some effort and fight on the D. Gus will frick on the O on his own.

I expect we'll be competitive against A&M, but I'm not really confident in our ability to do anything, in any certain manner, for any consistent stretch of time. We've played two radically different games. We think we have a strong defense, but whether they're strong enough to be a true game changer, I don't know yet.

I think we'll be in the game simply because I'm of the belief 1) we're not entirely terrible and may have the stuff to hang with most opponents 2) A&M is good but not extraordinary 3) it's at JHS at night.

I think this is one of the biggest games for Gus to date, but I'm entirely uncommitted to whether that helps or hurts (I haven't formed an opinion about Gus as a clutch coach).
