Yea it was on the old west side upper deck before that was torn down for the new upper deck. It was also on the south scoreboard before they took that down to build the expansion.

That's different. That was a legal issue. A&M owns the rights to "12th Man" as a trade mark. If you don't protect your brand, you lose the right to it. A&M had to sue or lose the right. The parties entered into a licensing agreement allowing Seatle to do certain things with the name while protecting A&M's right to it.

TAMU watered down the "12th Man" brand with that agreement.

I've never understood why either school would want to be known as the hottest, shittiest place in the US

I don't think many LSU fans care about Clemson calling their stadium Death Valley honestly. I certainly don't

That would be like LSU starting to call their fan base the 12th man and then saying "it's ok with us that A&M calls their fans the 12th man also".

It's the originator that has the grounds to be upset, not the school that copied the original.

Commercially, maybe, but not in the eyes of the law, which is what really matters. A&M was diligent in protecting its brand and allowed a license without giving up the rights to it.

Who was first?

Let's have a coin flip. The winner gets first choice of keeping "Tigers" or "Death Valley". Lose gets what's left. Deal?

Well I think that's where the problem lies. I don't know the history of it, but I believe the originator is actually not clear.

i don't see why the other calling it the same thing upsets either of these fanbases. But i look forward to the outcry.

LSU fans DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT, OR DON'T GIVE A DIARRHETIC BABBOON'S arse what Clemson or their fans think about Tiger Stadium being called "Death Valley."
We all KNOWWWWWWWWW Clemson was the first Death Valley !!! We get it !! We respect Memorial Stadium and Coach Howard and the Rock and all that !!! We all know it dates back to the 1940's!

But it was the MEDIA that perpetuated Tiger Stadium being called Death Valley - back in the 60's !!!
And the "Deaf Valley" thing is a total myth.
A local Baton Rouge company made "Deaf Valley" decals one preseason back in the early 60's (for some inane reason, NO ONE called Tiger Stadium that.)
But the media morphed it into "Death Valley" and it stuck - not impugning or disrespecting Clemson's Death Valley AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLL.

The "Welcome to Death Valley" that used to be on the West sideline under the pressbox has been moved to the SEZ.

Do you know how many Tiger Stadiums there are???
Detroit used to have one, and I'll bet there are other college stadiums around the country with that moniker.

But why can't there be 2 Death Valleys ????

Think about it........Out of the literally THOUSANDS of college and high school stadiums in America, only """"""""""""" T W O """""""""""""
are revered enough to be known as "Death Valley".

What the hell's wrong with that ?????????

OK, Maybe I'm stupid, but hasn't that Death Valley sign been gone for almost a decade now?

Not really because both teams have been calling it that for a very, very long time.

We aren't the Seahawks that stole that 15 years ago.

Um. Not to be a stickler for detail, but that game was on the last day of 2012.

Tell you what, if Clemson was a better program then they wouldn't have this problem because everyone would know that their stadium is also named "Death Valley".
