Perhaps. It was definitely called the Jungle in 2004 and they played Welcome to the Jungle at that game. I have been to half a dozen or so games since then at JHS about half were against LSU and they play it every time and the PA announcer says something corney about being in the Jungle at each of those games. If it is just a coincidence that they did that at the games I've been to such as 2009 Louisiana Tech game, then it is just a coincidence that happens a bunch.

Hum, i never saw one. Did it at least look sharp.

I also don't recall hearing welcome to the jungle and in fact that was my biggest complaint when they started this ill fated plan, that they didn't play it.

I'm looking for a picture. It looked pretty cool. I think most things in the Auburn color scheme look pretty good though except when they use the lame cartoon block lettering.

Also, it looks like Auburn calls its basketball student section the jungle now. They won't give it up!

Could be. Not doubting you, as I may just not have noticed. I just thought that shite went out the door when Tuberville did. Horrible. Never made sense either. Auburn, Alabama and jungles? Tha frick? The Swamp and UF actually makes sense.

I would like to remake the point that because Clemson stole everything that Auburn did when it made its athletic department they are forever barred from complaining that someone lifted their schtick. The whole athletic department is a facsimile of Auburn's.

Not only did LSU rip off Death Valley, but they've completely blown the "earthquake game" out of proportion.

Seismic readings happen often at defining moments at major sporting events provided there is a seismograph near the facility. LSU's is only a thousand or so feet away from the stadium. It also didn't gain "lore" as the Earthquake game until a couple of years later when ESPN was trying to drum up interest in an Auburn LSU game in 91.

Don't most things need some breathing room before they become lore? The ESPN notion of an instant classic (which they claim any entertaining game is) has sort of obscured this point. LSU fans did not truly appreciate the 2003 Georgia game until years after. It takes some perspective sometimes so I don't find that point all that controversial.

It's important because it was pointed out only by media to hype up the game two years later and it was such a non-story that it took 2 years before anyone outside of the LSU geology department knew about it. The USGS does not have any recorded earthquakes for that night, either.

The key, however, is that most big games with defining plays register on the richter scale at LSU's geology department. Just something they don't want to tell you because it ruins how "special" that game has become in LSU lore.

Well given that they don't have one any more, it is a nice little quirk in the stadium's history. I'll tell you where they don't register on a seismograph, Neyland Stadium. World's quietest 100,000.

My first game ever with my dad. I was 5 years old. Will always be special to me. My mom was upset that she wasn't there.

Actually what was truly remarkable about the seismograph wasn't that the game registered, but that for 57 minutes and 30 seconds it did NOT register. It was the TD pass to Fuller that woke everyone up from a defensive struggle to finally make some noise.

So it was the striking difference from the vast majority of the game to the Fuller TD that was remarkable. I bet if you looked at the seismograph for the '79 USC game, it would've been pegged out the whole time and not just have some big spike at the end.

As has been noted, the seismograph is no longer there, but when it was, it used to register when the janitor would pass the mop on the floor close by the monitor. It was sensitive.

Do they still have the vortex simulator that everyone used to race quarters on? That would be a bummer if they don't.

The Big House is EASILY the quietest 100k.

They aren't as loud up there and the stadium is really spread out and open. No sound is trapped.

I could hear quiet conversations going on a section away and it was the Michigan St. game.
