And there's lester's alter.

Both posting within minutes of each other.
Both with all lowercase names.
Both with one sentence paragraphs.
Both abnormally bitter and bent about Texas A&M.

Not sure how/why you're trying to morph this thread into a discussion about ticket sales; were I you, I'd start a new thread about it--you'll get a more specific dialogue going.

you don't know shite. firing someone over false arrest will ruin his career and if the ee has any sense he'll end up owning your damn business.

Your stadium hasn't been full in years and you give tickets to Austin community college to fill seats.

I see a lot of trolling on the Aggies in this thread.

I'm glad I don't do this anymore.

An employer who reasonably believes an arrest is legit and based on the conduct of the employee has zero liability, even if the arrest is ultimately dismissed.

You certainly don't sound like you know anything about employment law. The only limits Texas has are the use of pre-employment arrest made more than seven years in the past. No limits at all over arrests occurring when the employee is employed.

c'mon. I don't think pushing her, if it's his first offense should get him thrown off the team. he didn't hurt her nor did he strike her. I think zero tolerance is an overreaction. each case merits an individual look. now, if he pushed her over the balcony, punched her in the face, etc that's a different story. next thing you know, verbal abuse will be included in this stupid "zero tolerance" attitude.

This is right GrandDad. Lester the Goat is just another University of Texas fan coming all the way over to SEC Rant because they can't let their obsession with us go.

For the record, no one's banished him.
He hasn't been disqualified, he's been suspended--which is A&M policy.
Indeed there are two sides to every story; his version will be heard.
This isn't an athletic department inquiry, Brazos County is investigating.
If he's innocent, he won't be hung out to dry by the team.
If he's not ... bye.

Let me see if I understand this. So are you saying he could admit to Sumlin that he pushed his girlfriend to the ground, but that if he's not ultimately convicted, nothing happens?

I think a whole lot of coaches would have a pretty strict policy about physically abusing girlfriends, and wouldn't wait for the case to make it's way though the court system.

(If he claims the whole thing is false or a) setup, then of course Sumlin should be free to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think a coach can't or shouldn't have a rule that his players can't intentionally push or strike a female. Period, end of story.

I'd like to think that most of us haven't engaged in such behavior or would tolerate it.

You're putting words into my mouth. I was simply clarifying that as of now, he has been suspended--pending the investigation--not disqualified.

Other than what's been reported, I don't have any idea what transpired. My guess would be that the police uncovered enough evidence to arrest him. If you're asking me what constitutes physical abuse or assault, I haven't a clue (I'm not an attorney). But if I was a coach, and one of my players intentionally shoved a girl, I would likely relieve him of his scholarship. Easy for me to say that from my living room, though. I'm glad I don't have to make those ethical decisions.

Right now I'd think his problems are bigger than whether or not he gets to practice with the team.

That's the answer to the question I was asking.

I agree. He admits that, he's gone.

And I have no idea why anyone would try to put his or her school above A&M on this thread. This is a "there but for the grace of God go I" issue.

That has been Sumlin's approach thus far.

Suspend, investigate, dismiss if warranted.

Every program has players that get in trouble. Some coaches deal with it as it happens, some try to cover it up. I'm glad Sumlin deals with it.

I think the point some of you are missing by pretty much acting like nothing should happen to the guy, suspension or otherwise, unless he is found guilty are the facts that:

1. He is not an employee of the school so employment law is out the fricking window.

2. Playing football at the collegiate level is a privilege not a right so if they kick his arse to the curb he has no legal recourse.

He is owed no due process due to the above 2 facts in the situation.

Your coach waited to suspend three players his first year until a FULL WEEK after they were arrested on charges of sexual assault.

LINK

The arrest happened on July 25th. Suspension happened after August.
