men's gymnastics would draw bigger crowds than soccer.

I'm for it though I'd rather see some SEC Rugby.

I think that the SEC will make a move into Soccer with in the next 10 years. Soccer is gaining popularity, where as baseball is stagnant.
the SEC only needs 2 more teams to have a men's conf. league recognized.

The primary issue, is Title IX, which the solution is probably Womens LAX, which is the fastest growing womens sport.

Div . mens soccer allows for 9.9 scholarships, womens LAX is 12.. which keeps everything in line.

Lastly, I think if the NCAA would move Soccer to the spring, it would help even more with attendance.

Facility wise, in most schools the soccer fields and LAX are the same, and most of the SEC already have womens teams.

to those of you who argue no one cares about soccer, the MLS is 3rd among US professional leagues.

National Football League (67,604)
Major League Baseball (30,514)
Major League Soccer (18,807)
National Hockey League (17,455)
National Basketball Association (17,407)

I support it as well. I'd love to see the SEC get into Men's Soccer. The women's LAX solution works. Neither of those sports cost that much money.

Not sure the SEC schools want two more non-revenue sports, but if they went in that direction the womens LAX is the answer.

My other question would be if the SEC played it in the spring how would that affect playing for an NCAA title?

Average attendance.

Is average attendance really an indicator though? What about TV revenue?

I'm not sure SEC soccer would average 1000 paid fans per school. I am sure TV ratings would be really low and therefore a financial drain on each school.

It could work, but title IX will not let it happen.

Its wiki, yes I know, but it was the only source that listed all professional leagues. It does however , use resource links at the bottom to show where attendance numbers came from.

Agreed. The fact that we can't offer full scholarships to a baseball team is enough to make you realize you're never going to have a full scale men's soccer team

I totally wish their was. I have followed the EPL for the last year, and it's pretty awesome. I would love to tailgate in the spring for a soccer game where A&M beats the ever living shite out of LSU.

Not a huge soccer fan, but I'd support the frick out of SEC soccer.

Shame it'll never happen in the current climate.
