Absolutely. Not giving in to a second rate activity.

Soccer is really getting popular in the US. The World Cup helped show that, as did 109,000 to watch it in the Big House recently.

With all the rugrats playing it, it is projected to continue to increase in popularity.

It should be an SEC sponsored sport. With all the money that should be coming in from the SEC, schools should be able to afford it (you already have a soccer field from women's soccer, mainly just the cost of schollies and travel). All you need is another women's sport to offset the scholarships for Title IX purposes.

Time for the SEC to get ahead of the curve.

Undeniable proof that Missouri doesn't belong in the SEC.
Nobody in the SEC wants this pussy third world game.

Soccer would work, and Hockey would even be better. The toughness of Hockey would fit right with SEC play.

I bet that hockey would draw at least as many fans as baseball at most of the schools.

That's like a Canadian football league team beating an NFL team. Wake Up.

Not even close to being a grandpa but maybe one day.

This is a very shortsighted statement and one that I believe is entirely incorrect.

Ok, what are people in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee going to watch more of? Football/basketball/baseball or soccer?

Getting out of the group stage twice in a row for the first time was pretty impressive, considering most experts expected us to finish behind Germany and Portugal. I feel like we're finally at the point where making it out of the group stage is a must.

1 win, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Not bad considering every team we played is arguably better than us.

Lost to the champs by 1.

And did all that without our best forward.

Actually, I think football can HELP soccer attendance. I know that women's soccer matches at Auburn have much higher attendance if they're the Friday before or Sunday afternoon following a home football game. SEC soccer could actually be viable, especially thanks to the massive SECN dollars we're all supposed to get to offset its costs and the cost of which women's sport (likely LAX for most).

However, as a soccer fan, college soccer is not the future of soccer in the US. The best players, especially on the men's side, should be in club academies, for reserve squads, or for full senior squads by that point. It could be buoy interest in soccer by dragging people in with school spirit until they actually fall in love with the sport.

Oh, and for the grumpy old-timers calling it easy, you're laughable. You can hate it and think it's boring. That's fine and understandable. However, calling it easy just makes you look clueless.

USMNT lost to the would be champs by 1 goal and should have beaten belgium. they had a very successful run. you would be stupid to deny that.

fact is soccer is getting more popular, even if you don't like it, there's no denying that there is revenue in it.
