Only 4 of the 18 stadiums hold more than 27,000. Most of them seat around 20,000.

And all of those have this footnote:

Do they do the Baylor Tarp of Shame thing?

I don't want to pick on soccer (much). If attendance is improving, good for them. I'd actually like to see it become an SEC men's sport if the AD's can figure out how to not screw their budget. I'll continue to be an old curmudgeon and geek numbers guy on the subject of comparing attendance among the various pro leagues, though.

So kickball is played in HS stadiums?

Same size or bigger stadiums than hockey and basketball play in.

I think they usually just limit the seats in the upper deck.

How many games is an MLB season? Over 160?

Those statistics are skewed by the # of games that can be played in baseball because it is not physically demanding like soccer, football, etc.

MLS has far fewer games/season.

No it wouldn't. Nobody in the south cares about soccer enough for it to be successful

This is a very shortsighted statement and one that I believe is entirely incorrect.

Sheesh, man. That was the point! You just can't compare them. Not in attendance, anyway. The only meaningful stat I can see is improving attendance - which MLS does have.

Been watching soccer unsuccessfully jammed down our throats since Rose Kennedy started everybody plays. The perfect activity for it.

You obviously haven't watched anyone older than the age of 12 play.

This is so, so wrong. It's pretty obvious you quit watching after your 12-yr old gave it up.

My kids did not play and they jog in kickball, rarely sprint. Want to put a stop watch on it?

Which sport is more physically demanding - baseball or soccer? By far - soccer! The most exciting play in baseball might be a tag at the plate or an outfielder diving for a ball. In 1 minute of a MLS soccer game, you'll have more challenges for a ball than an entire baseball game.

Yes, soccer players jog for most of the 90+ minute game, with periods of sprinting when the ball is nearby. Baseball players are basically standing still except for the catcher and pitcher. The most challenging part of a baseball game is jogging out to the field and waiting for the outside chance a ball might be hit or thrown your way.

it would be a smart move. with the success of the US mens team in the world cup, and the MLS gaining support, soccer is getting more and more popular in the US.

for christ sakes, tigerdroppings has a soccer board. should tell you something.

You're hopeless . My girl's nickname is Bruiser, FWIW, and it is well-earned. And she didn't do much "jogging". Played 2 years in college before thankfully (for me) giving it up.

With all the "fake injury " time-outs that happen in SEC football they should have the "flop" down perfectly.

It would be. Please God let's phase out these old timers who would be terrible businessmen.
