I knew you had some PAC 12 games coming up. Didn't know about Oregon.

Wasn't the Iron Bowl their most important game at the time?

Ole Miss did it and beat Texas at Texas. Alabama and LSU have done it in the past with Michigan and Oregon. Florida very rarely schedules tough opponents outside of the SEC.
Henry,
So let's recap what you are saying here.... because UF has played FSU for umpteeeeeen fricking years as an OOC game, this shouldn't count as an OOC game.......even though it is technically an OOC game in the eyes of everyone except you. Did I get that right?
Posted on 4/14/14 at 4:23 pm to aggiegreg93
on top of....I'd argue that UF should always get a pass.......for playing their OOC rival every year because their rival is considered high quality opponent year in and year out.

Vandy has been performing better than a number of teams in the SEC...

I can understand Vandy and State to some extent but Bama, A&M and Florida need to step it up.
Who cares that it's a rivalry game? It's one of our four out-of-conference games, is it not?

The FSU game alone makes Florida's OCC harder than at least 8 of the SEC's teams

And if FSU joined the SEC their OOC schedule strength would immediately go to shite.
I think this discussion about OCC schedule strength is stupid. Why should a team schedule hard core tough opponents year in and year out? Yeah it brings in the ratings and gives fans of college football a good game, but at the end of the day you are fighting for a slot in the Final Four. Losing an OCC game to a Top 5 team as well as losing a game in conference could kill all chances of you making it to the national championship.
If there was an 8-team playoff instead of the 4-team set up we have now, I'd definitely be in favor of scheduling tougher opponents.

No, the most important game played in college football is the NCG, not the iron bowl.

I think playing Auburn, LSU, and Alabama makes up for a shite OC schedule.

As for Auburn losing the NC, maybe if JW had gotten hurt to start the game or they had to play a team like ND (who looked good but then had every good team they played get outted in bowls) then they would have won too.

The real shame is losing a Ntl Champ game to an Acc Team/ That's like losing a war to France

I mean...we scheduled Southern Miss right after they went 12-1..
Posted on 4/14/14 at 8:06 pm to pivey14
Southern Miss has very recently hit a rough patch, but you could say they have been a solid team for the last 20 years prior, maybe more.
