And they're right.

Look -- I'm not calling the grunts who fought for the Confederacy all racist. A lot of them probably were, but that's neither here nor there.

But at its core, it was a racist war. The defense that the war was more about "states' rights" than slavery is disingenuous. What did those states want to have the right to do? Continue with slavery.
