(not trying to troll UGA, I think we go 11-1 and lose to UGA this year) Just want to know if anyone can think of another huge loss by a team that had a legit shot of making the championship. I can't think of a single instance where a contender has had a loss like that in recent memory.

It happens every year to someone who starts out in the top ten with 'contender' status.

You haven't done anything special.

What/who did UGA lose from last year?

Haven't kept up with them and just wondering.

But it's still a moral victory because it got y'all nothing.
44-11 got us an SEC East trophy.

It was pretty weird for UGA to get beat that badly and yet be one game, 10 yards really, from a NC.

For Auburn, in 2006 after losing to ARK we beat Florida to move back into the discussion, but the UGA crushed us at home including 4 kneel downs with 5 minutes to go. Score was 37-15 but felt like 137 to 15.

BTW, even if we would have not lost that game, we probably would have lost to Florida in a rematch, but it's the best I can come up with for AU in the BCS era.

2003 Kansas State vs Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. Oklahoma lost 35-7 and still went on to play in the BCSCG.

Arkansas State, led by the gus bus, beat Oregon 31-7 from mid 2nd quarter on, if that counts.

LSU beat Virginia Tech 48-7 in 2007. If V Tech had played Bowling Green instead of LSU, they would have played Ohio St in the BCSNC that year instead of LSU.

#4 FSU curbstomped #5 AU in 1987 34-6. It was our only loss in 1987.

FSU ended the year #2 behind Miami.

Moral victory is the usual retort when a fan boasts about their team's regular season win over the actual national champion that year. Like they should be honorary co-champs or something.

So yeah, y'all beat Georgia.

You'd be honorary co-champs a la Ole Miss in 2008 had Aaron Murray completed another pass or two before the clock expired. We get it.

Print the T-shirts.

Looks like this thread isn't going how the OP thought it was going to go.

2008
Oklahoma- 65
Texas Tech- 21

Remember, this was the year of the 3-way tie in the Big 12 South. Tech was undefeated going into the game, and had they won, they would've been in the National Championship.
