The SECCG was what should have alerted Miles to the issues with our passing game, if nothing else. Relatively speaking, the JJ short option angle caught Saban off guard in November. There was no way that shite was happening again. As a fan, I will never be able to "forgive" Miles for that bullshite. To this day, there is still some moron on the Rant who thinks Jefferson should have stayed in the whole game and he routinely regurgitates some "statistical analysis" to back up his claims. QB play made the difference. I think the defenses were about even, we had a slight edge in special teams, and y'all had a significant edge offensively due to a QB that was worth a shite.

The LSU defense was better at creating havoc and forcing turnovers but the Bama group was harder to drive down the field on

UpShaw was a beast that year. Always in the damn backfield.

that's fair. LSU was in some back and forth games many times in the first half until Tyrann Mathieu just decided he was going to take the game over. It's like he crushed their will with a few turnovers or an absurd special teams return. Off the top of my head he did it to West Virginia (Orange Bowl champ), Oregon (Rose Bowl Champ), Arkansas (Cotton Bowl champ), and UGA (I think won the capitol one bowl?)

I thought Claiborne was just the best db that year. He shut down everyone. I'm shocked he didn't pan out in the pros like most thought he would.

He's starting again in Dallas and apparently has improved much more this season. That was the case a few weeks ago at least. Seems like a great guy, hope he puts it all together.

Oh absolutely. That's why I have always said you couldn't just use ypg to compare the 2. Bama was a brick wall, almost impossible to move on. LSU would give up more yards, but next thing you know, Tyrann or someone else, would be running the opposite direction with the ball.

Let's really tweak this bitch

2015 Bama DL, 2011 Bama LBs, 2011 LSU secondary.

That is the goat.

I think '11 LSU or Bama wins the NC this year pretty easily.

It's funny that saying we beat every team we played in the 2011 season is true, despite the fact that we got smoked in the NC.

I'd say that the LSU team that showed up to the first 13 games would beat LSU 2015, but the team that showed up for 21-0 would lose by more than three TDs to 2015.

2011 would win by 3 td's. In my opinion. That d would shut down this offense save for lf7 but he wouldn't be enough. 2015's defense would get gashed over and over again.

2011 team with TM7 would score at least 2 TDs on punt returns on this team.

That is basically an NFL defense.

2011 wins, but not a blowout.

2011 could only run the ball consistently, while the 2015 defense is elite at stopping the run.

'11 defense was beastly and would force some turnovers perhaps against the '15 offense, but Fournette would still get his 100 yards.

That keeps the game close. The Special Teams difference between '11 and '15 would be the death knell for the latter.

I looked up LSU's offensive numbers from 2011 and I'm surprised by how mediocre they were.

You have to keep in mind defense and special teams were giving the offense great field position. The numbers aren't going to be huge, but we were definitely efficient like you said. Up until...

Maybe their offensive efficiency started to go down after Jordan Jefferson took over.

Just a little bit Two bad passes in Tuscaloosa changed that season. Would have been nice to see Lee get a chance on 1/9.

False. They were good, but LSU's offensive line this year is as good as 2011's defensive front. It would be up to Eric Reid and Tyrann Mathieu to stop Fournette.. which wouldn't always work.

Harris is light years ahead of Lee and Jefferson at qb, and the coaches are just starting to allow him to introduce himself to the world.

I think 2015 LSU is similar to 2012 Bama

Question: Is this year's LSU team even better than their 2010 team much less their 2011 team that would have gone down as one of the top ten college football teams of all-time if they had won the MNC?

Leonard is the difference maker this year. Defense not as good, but offensively 2015 LSU has a college all timer. That's a big factor.

LSU's 11 defense was the best at causing turnovers without a doubt.

It was amazingly difficult to throw down field on that team.
