Your new AD worked under Foley and they have many of the same characteristics. If Foley didn't want Mullen back at UF, I highly doubt McGarrity will want him at UGA.

What do you Arkansas fans think about this? Is he worth nearly half a million dollars???

As long as he was allowed to bring his ladders, mop handles and cinder blocks he is worth it.

come to think of it Ole Miss paid 900k a victory last year with its Hc and Co salary, that is top notch

DGD

I will give you one glaring example why UGA will not bring in a top tier coach.

Muschamp who have never been a HC is getting just 100K less than Richt who will be in his 11th season.

UGA has a rep on not paying top dollar for their coaches.

I agree actually. Well for some of it. We really don't go out to do that. But things are changing. They are having trouble getting money. Season tickets aren't flying off the press as quick. There's a bevy of bad press. Our Ath department has gotten complacent just like the football team. But that cash cow is faltering now. Fans, while divided on how to fix it, are furious with the product being turned out. We bring in as much money as anyone else yet they won't shell it out. Well I think that's changing under mcgarity. They are currently upping foxs contract. I think when get a new coach you'll see Georgia offer a TON. Hell the process started. We offered a qtr of a million to several DC like VTs foster or bamas smart. Then we got grantham. Point is that was new for UGA and what I think/hope is their new MO

Nope, insta-reply.

The 3/4 of a million is a lot? Yeah it's a lot, but it was a hell of an upgrade from what we had so I'd say it was worth it, and we should be even better this year.

I saw that in the AJC last week. I thought it very strange UGA was having trouble selling their season tickets.

Very true I was amazed at the cash they threw at TG, but for the career Richt has had at UGA to still be one of the bottom tier in terms of salary doesn't bode well to get a top flight HC.

But like you said since they are upping Fox's contract maybe this is changing.

If he does prove to work out well for you, DGD might have his answer for wanting a hard nosed a-hole for a new coach.

I think part of the reason there is a disparity is because all those coaches contracts were made after richt re-did his. Sabans really upped the ante for everyone else and by the time it took hold richts product was no longer worthy of top tier $$. He used to be one of the highest paid guys. Also, I think richt is a dawg and even if he leaves he's a dawg. He won't coach anywhere but Athens, that their home. So UGA feels less pressure from him being plucked.

That's my hypothesis

me either, but if things go like I expect them to this year I want him to be our DC for a long time. He's cut from the same cloth as VanGorder. Martinez just didn't have it.

I want him to succeed. Hard to judge by last year. I'm still curious as to why even though we run a 3-4 he uses a 4 man front so much yet against tech when that makes the most sense we rarely had Houston down. But he makes the big bucks not me. But that tech game, yechhhh
