The word "thug" is so warped now that it's gotten to the point where I respect someone more if they just say "I hate racial slurs" than trying to call an athlete acting obnoxious a "thug" when they clearly mean something more specific.
Not a fan of those words and I know that sounds weird, but that's the way it strikes me now.

What a white guilt statement.
Thug is a great word because it accurately describes a piece of shite regardless of race. Different races have different slurs. Thug is all encompassing, it is not prejudiced. If a black guy is acting like a thug, and Bruce Irvin certainty was, then why is it racist to call him a thug? Because black athletes tend to act like thugs more than white athletes? Marshall Henderson has been rightly called a thug numerous times on this very website. A spade is a spade is a spade. Don't get your feeling hurt because a black guy was acting like a butthurt loser and was getting called out on it.

It's a fascinating evolution of that word, tbh. It's not racist in and of itself, but the context has changed drastically to refer almost exclusively to black people in pop culture.

In all honesty I haven't read the statement Klarvin was referencing, so I can't really comment on those.
What I'm saying isn't some PC white guilt approach at all, I just respect people who say what they mean. A lot of people I spend time with, and I suspect a broader population as well (assuming here, can't prove it by any means) are way looser to assign "thug" to someone black. If they really are using it properly, then great, call them a thug. But someone hopping up and down or talking trash in a game isn't being a thug. Just don't use it to hide, I witness a lot of that in my life. My feelings aren't hurt, but thanks for your concern. Bonus points for the use of "butthurt".
