Are you saying that people should use the N word instead of thug when referring to black thugs?
Just because the N word thankfully isn't prevalent anymore doesn't mean that thug replaced it. Thug was around before that anyway. Your whole stance is flawed. What would be a proper term to describe a black guy that's acting like a thug?
I used thug in a conversation with a black coworker the other day. He agreed and wasn't offended. I guess I should show him your feelings on it and beg for forgiveness

Not that you asked for my opinion, but I believe "thug" is absolutely used by SOME people to get around saying "n*****." That is certainly not true for all people, and plenty of people referred to guys like Marshall Henderson and Bill Romanowski as thugs.

You can use thug all you want to describe whoever you want. You may be making no comments on what you believe to be characteristics and traits of the mythical "black community". I just don't live under a rock and I know that people are doing that. Unless you're saying that people have no words to be subversively racist and that thug isn't one of those words.
