The tragic loss robs the state of Alabama of one of its top young football players. Jones was a big, powerful defensive lineman at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds. He also played tight end at times for his high school. He already had scholarship offers from Mississippi State and South Carolina, and Auburn had already expressed interest. He was very impressive at an Auburn summer camp, according to a Scout.com story.

Terrible thing to hear. One of the hardest thing a family has to face.

Am I the only one that was thinking WTF as I was reading that? Seems like a pretty shitty article to write about a guy that just killed himself. Who cares that he was a great football player right now?

I felt that way too, terrible article. I hope his family can find the support they need during this time.

I find it very unsettling that they make this about his football talent and the loss of a great career or what could have been type story. As opposed to a young man obviously troubled, just took his own life, right before what is about to be the greatest years of his life.

Saddening to say the least, then you realize it happens more than you think.

Well to be fair you wouldn't be reading about it if he wasn't a great football player.

Well it was written in the 'Sports' section by a 'sports' writer. And most of the time when someone dies young their potential is discussed.

It's already sad enough, don't make something out of nothing.

I wish we lived in a world where we could better understand why these things happen. It's so incredibly sad that a kid with that much potential felt that was his only resort. But it also goes to show that it's not everything and the under current has a far greater pull than we can sometimes imagine.
