Damn, that sucks. He was always a pleasure to listen to even as an Ole Miss fan.

Sorry to hear that. We lost our PA/stadium announcer, the Voice of the Vols, Bobby Denton this year and it sucks knowing that from now on that we won't hear him reminding us to "Please pay these prices and please pay no more" at Neyland. Good radio and PA announcers bring so much to this game we love. I wonder if they know how much they shape our memories and the good times we all have watching and listening to games, not just for the home fans but for all of us who tune or listen in even when we're fans of the opposing team.

RIP Jack Cristil. Thanks for the memories.

Used to hear him back in the day when every game wasn't on tv or if I was on the road somewhere during a game. Used to stay up to see the coaches show too. His last game he called was a basketball game at Tennessee LINK

No link but one of my favorites, after we beat them 45-0 in 08

RIP Jack. The last of the Old School SEC radio men.

Used to keep a three-minute egg timer - the old "sands of time" hourglass type - in the booth with him when he was calling a game. Every time the sands ran out, he would give the score and the game time and flip it over, because he knew someone just tuning in would want to know what was happening and he thought they shouldnt ever have to wait more than three minutes to find out.

Class act, and like Larry Munson a real homer who still wouldn't hesitate to tell it like it is.

Jack was the best in the business. Everyone unanimously envied Jack as an announcer. He will be missed.

Cristil calling the end of the 1980 MSU victory over undefeated Bear Bryant - led Alabama.
