After this game, I think it is pretty clear that this team is not at the level of 2009, 2011, or 2012.

While Blake Sims had a decent game, he does not stretch the field the way McCarron or even McElroy did. It is way too easy for the defense to scheme against him.

Our defense is putrid. 393 yards to WVU. I'm not sure if our defense will ever look good against the spread. Where is the pass rush we were all expecting? Where was the improvement from our corners? The linebackers were MIA.

Our coverage unit was suspect.

This is not a melt or anything like that. I think that Bama could win 10 or 11 games, but there is no way that we could go toe to toe with FSU or anyone else and come out as the champ.

Their offense scored one touchdown.

Only because they shot themselves in the foot. That high snap was a gift from heaven.

Also Cyrus got away with pass interference. That could've/should've been a touchdown.

It's one game. You really need to settle down and quit panicking.

I know. I am just trying to temper my expectations for this team, so that I won't be disappointed. This will probably be 2010ish.

I know which play you are referring. He held his arm for a sec. Fortunately the ref missed it. I think the ball was overthrown though, he had both hands extended for it and the hold didn't affect his attempt to catch it. Still... they'd had first and goal if it had been caught and wouldn't have liked that.

Nah. That was good coverage by Cyrus. This isn't the NFL.

I think we'll be just fine once Eddie Jackson takes over for Sylve and we get our suspended guys back from their punishments.

There's no doubt this is not a championship team. The questions is, can they become one.

We also didn't win the championship last year either. Like I said, this team could be good, but I'm almost certain this will not be #16.

It's possible it could be a 9 win team. A lot of new faces and a lot of good teams to play this year. It's equally possible they learn from today's mistakes, improve on them and become a dominate team, reaching the playoff and winning it all.

We were ok. WVU is going to score a lot of points this year on a lot of teams. They were dramatically improved and we didn't handle it too well, even though our #'s aren't too bad against a spread team.

I was pleasantly surprised with Sims, but he really doesn't look like he has the arm to stretch the field.

I think we look like a 11-2 team rather then a championship contender

Indeed. No one was thinking 2009 was going to be the year after 34-24 against Va. Tech or 12-10 against Tennessee or 38-20 against Kentucky.

Sometimes you win close games. Sometimes that is better than blowing out your opponents week in and week out.

We won and I suspect some changes on D, getting DePriest back and having the team mesh some more could be beneficial.

It's a new team, and it played well.

We were a freak play away from being in the title game. Assuming we beat MU. We will be fine this year. I expect WVU to challenge the Big12. They were no slouches today.

Oh and no one is mentioning our run defense which on 24 attempts allowed 28 yards on the ground. 1.2 ypc.

Even though WVU isn't known for their ground game, those are damn good numbers.

How I feel too and what I said in another post. From what I saw today BS is good enough to lead us to a championship but the D will need to improve a good bit and figure out the HUNH

Please don't use the board as your tampon. This team will be fine, and every week that Bama wins and looks good, I'm bumping this as a lesson for you.
