Unlikely. I don't really see the point. He's not going to stay for 5 years anyway. If it takes a few weeks into the season for him to be ready, you just wait and play him then.

Yes, if the Freshmen come in and learn the playbook.

Sounds like it will be up to Marshall. I have a hard time believing he will want to redshirt because he will probably want to enter the NFL draft after this year. Don't really see him being able to raise his stock even if he stays a couple more years.

Then he wouldn't be playing next year either...... This is stupid. There is no way and zero chance he redshirts. It's not even close to being debatable either.

Gurley, yes. Marshall, I don't see it. Unless he has an incredible year I see him staying. Backs aren't getting drafted high anymore and it would do him good to see one more year in Athens. Definitely depends on the draft classes though.

I see him hanging around next year, but he will be a Sr....not a rs-JR.

Really? What if one of the knees starts giving him trouble? Think he won't redshirt then and come back fresh next season? I don't think a redshirt is likely, but I wouldn't say no, zero chance. So it is debatable.

Marshall came out of high school with a gpa of like 3.4 or something close to that. I think he is the kind of kid who will want to get his degree. Jmo but I think he stays for 4 years regardless of the situation. Might leave early if he graduates in 3 years. Again Jmo.

Football players have mandated credit hours that they have to take. They can't drop classes like the rest of the student population.

Marshall will probably graduate before he even starts his 4th year.

There is no reason to even discuss redshirting him. If his knee gets worse, then it gets worse. But knee problems can happen to 84 other scholarship players, too (players that we haven't started threads about).

With an injury to Gurley, a Marshall redshirting would leave two freshmen to carry the load. Plus, as has been mentioned, Marshall won't see his Sr year in Athens. There is no reason to redshirt him.

Or a sophomore, a redshirt freshman, and then two other freshman

Why is everyone so convinced he'll declare after his junior year? Already been stated that RBs aren't going as high anymore and he hasn't done enough to merit going too early IYAM unless he comes back this year as good as ever.

Sure there is. Not saying it's likely but I don't like those in this thread acting like there is absolutely no chance it happens. It's sports, there's no such thing as no chance.

Seriously. Personally I think he doesn't RS but that he very likely comes back next year as the #1 guy

Unless he wants to pull a Danny Ware

I've stated above that he will be here a 4th year.

Barring a catastrophic injury to him again, he will not redshirt. ZERO chance. Of course, I figured everyone on this thread was smart enough to understand the "unless he gets injured again part," but some people just like to act all cool.

Again, he will not redshirt, unless he is injured....but again, thats like saying there is a chance that Gurley redshirts too....which is stupid.

I didn't mean anyone specifically or even limited to this thread. I know others who have said the same thing.

You're acting like it's completely unlikely he gets hurt again though. Saying there is zero chance is just silly. It's sports. Which is why the coaches are allowing all answers to be considered. If it were truly "zero chance" then I doubt Bobo and McClendon would be covering their arse.

No. I'm not acting like he won't get injured. Obviously, if he gets injured he would redshirt. So would Gurley, Mason, etc. everyone that hasn't been redshirted before, but that goes without say. If you add that variable, then this thread is even more stupid.

The thread was assuming he doesn't get injured again. And to that, there is Zero chance he redshirts. That's why the thread is stupid.

No injury = zero chance he RS (which is what the OP asked)

Injured again and out = 100% he RS (but so is anyone that hasn't RS before)

Marshall should have only one goal in life & that is to better his 40 time.
