SI: So Petrino's offensive background played a big part in your decision?
TG: That was 100 percent the selling point. When you take a new job, you look at all the factors. From an offensive standpoint, he knows how to put points on the board, and he also knows how to manage a game, and that's big particularly in the fourth quarter. Being able to team up with that was something that excited me.
frick TODD GRANTHAM, YOU FAT SACK OF DEFENSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT. DIE BY FIRE.

All of that is bullshite. He and everyone else knows that he wasn't exactly feeling welcome in Athens

So the team that was putting up 38 a game the last couple years wasn't enough for your defense Todd?

As a wise man once told me, "All you have to do is get your offense to score one more point than the defense allows...Simple as that." In other words Toad Grantham doesn't trust his D-coordinator ability enough if he is looking for someone who scores a pantload... fat frick

Nope. Todd needs to be teamed up with a guy putting up at least 45 to be successful.

Do you gaiz regret sticking up for him while he was cursing James Franklin, or throwing the choke sign at UF?

No. There is nothing wrong with passion and emotions...being incompetent and stubborn is a completely different story

No. I still agree with him for sticking up for his player.

Or as Erk said...

This, although I will concede that our offense wasn't able to get first downs that contributed to the losses to Vandy and Nebraska. But yea, for the most part our poor showings were due to crappy defense.

I thought the same thing when I read his comments about the offense putting up points. We had no trouble at all putting points on the board until our skill players started going down, but even then, we were still able to put up enough points to win (at least, I think so).
We shouldn't have to score 40 points a game to pull out wins by the skin of our teeth. I think it's funny that it was the offense that was his selling point on Louisville, though, not the program or the coaches or the players or history or anything else. When I hear the defensive coordinator saying that the best quality in a program is their offense, it makes me wonder about his faith in his ability to coach a defense.

What did you expect him to say? The man has to write checks back into UGA for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
He has been replaced by the current national champion DC along with a whole group of analyst we didn't have before.
Until we face them in some bowl paring or playoff scenario I could care less, we have bigger fish for the fryer like Alabama, Auburn, SC and Charleston Southern.

Agree.
The things he's saying are annoying because we know the truth about the number of points that Bobo's offense put up every year..... that were nullified by the number of points Grantham's Defense gave up.
But, this sounds mostly like someone trying to kiss the arse of their new boss.....and justify getting paid a million a year...
I feel kind of sorry for Grantham. He was always honest and said that the goal was to become HC one day. His job at UGA in the most high-profile conference in the land was his best spring-board for that goal. He might be getting paid more now, but he's taken a step bacwards in terms of his long-term HC dreams.
And if Pruitt has immediate success at UGA this year, it will make Grantham look even worse......
Everything will come out in the wash in the end.

Richt's history teaches us that he never got along with DCs (except his buddy Willie)...TG just answering the question with the correct bullshite he needs to say.

Did we not nullify his buyout?
