I sent all my stuff off over three weeks ago. How long does it take to come back? Is it because I live in Quitman county? I don't do drugs and I don't beat my wife...anymore. Is this normal? The court clerk said two weeks.

You just got out of the military didn't you? Are you receiving any federal benefits for PTSD or anything like that?

Not to scare you, but I've been reading stories on vets not only being denied carry permits because of this, but also being denied gun ownership of any kind in some cases.

In LA it took mine over 6 mos. They centrally process through the LA State Police. When the 2d Amendment battle was at its peak last year applications spiked to historic levels.

Here I went to the sheriffs office, filled out the form, had the department Community Watch liason sign as witness, and walked out with my permit.

No PTSD benefits yet. I can still buy guns as I got a .22 a few weeks ago. I just don't want to wait a week to buy a gun. No matter the state I'm in, there's always a hold/delay.

There were great deals at the gun show in Columbus today and I'm trying to up my arsenal just in case this government gets too big for its britches.

Sounds like typical government bureaucracy to me and the time for issuance of permits probably ebbs and flows depending on the number of applications being processed at any given time. I don't think it would be something to worry about at this point. Here's a recent link to all state CCP laws in terms of processing deadlines and it looks like that by statute they have a 40 day deadline under GA law. LINK

Might be a reason to consider avoiding the permit altogether.

I saw a story about a family that got their house raided by a full-on 20 person SWAT team a few weeks back which turned out to have been a case of mistaken identity.

When the family wanted to know why agents couldn't have just knocked, instead of breaking their door down and coming in the windows with guns drawn...........they were told that this force was necessary because one of the family members was in their records as having a carry permit.

How about that shite? fricking outrageous.......

Your carry permit puts you on their potential dangerous enemy list apparently.

Military and people with certain clearances believe it or not get more scrutiny than general public. I have nuclear power clearance and it took me two weeks longer than my buddy who took the class with me. Also before I got my ccp it took longer to get a gun than the general public. Never been arrested worst thing I ever had was a ticket

Then that's what it is. Military and I still have an active clearance. Awesome.

Took me 3 months in Colorado a few years ago. Took my wife 3 months just to get an appointment to start the process last year, and another 3 months to get it.

In Chicago, I think it's going to take over a year for people to get theirs now that the idiots in power have been overruled.

In Athens Clarke County you have two pieces of paper signed and your fee ready to go, you walk right into the courthouse on Washington and walk out 30 minutes later with your permit. That's what I heard, anyway. I wouldn't know.

What jurisdiction are you dealing with?

Obviously you've never been caught hunting without a license.
