Not the toughest competition, but nice.
Movoto, a national online real estate brokerage firm and blog, today posted its list of Alabama's Top 10 cities.
Coming in first place is Auburn, followed by Madison, Pelham, Florence, Calera, Enterprise, Chelsea, Mountain Brook, Albertville and Alabaster. Shelby County boasts four of the Top 10 cities included in the list posted on the firm's blog.
The list arrives as NerdWallet ranked Huntsville as its No. 1 small metro and Birmingham/Hoover as its No. 9 large metro for home ownership, affordability and area growth in the country.
Here's what Movoto said about Auburn:
"Auburn is known for many things—it is the home of Auburn University, it is one of the fastest growing cities in Alabama, and it even boasts the nickname 'The Loveliest Village on the Plains.' But this Lee County city made our list for a whole different set of positive traits.

I realize this isn't the point of your thread (congrats on the accolades); but apart from Auburn, I've never heard of a single one of those places.

Mostly because they are all rather small. Madison and Florence are pretty nice, hell they may be larger than Auburn population wise.
Mountain Brook is easily the nicest place to live out of all of the ones listed, I don't know how it's debatable. You just have to be able to afford to live there.

It's Alabama. We have 4 or 5 cities that people from somewhere else would've heard of.

Do you live in Alabama? Pelham, Florence, Calera, Chelsea Mtn Brook, Alabaster are all well known cities in Alabama if you are in the Bham metro area.

I will disagree. Auburn sucks unless you're a student.

Depends on what you like. That's why ranking cities is always stupid.

Probably because a # of them are just the rich "white flight" areas of cities you have heard of. Madison > Huntsville. Mountain Brook > Birmingham for instance.
PS got family in Enterprise it sucks.. its a top ten town because it doesn't have traffic? Err maybe. But it probably is more due to the fact that there is little competition in the state.. AL sucks arse. ( coming from someone who has lived most of my life here )

Most places in Alabama suck unless you are raising a family. Birmingham, as odd as it is to say, is the best place for a professional (single, of course) in their 20's or early 30's.
