Just looking for a higher paying/better job. Can't blame him. This is bad news as our DL was one of the bright spots on the defense last season. We actually defended the run pretty well; the pass, not so much.

He also has to look out for himself in case the new DC doesn't want to hire him

He has a son he just moved to an Athens high school. No reason to bounce him around to a new city unless UGA gave him a heads up that Grantham was being told to look around and there'd be a new DC. That could mean that UGA has been working on these moves for well over a week...

I'm all about incremental improvement. It's like those barter shows where dude takes a picnic basket and trades it up through the system for a pontoon boat.

I'm ready to gamble on new coaches too. I trust Mcgarity more than Richt he will not frick this up. The football program is a multimillion dollar operation and he needs to put together a good staff to keep it that way.

How Richt handled the last search was an embarrassment.

Mcgarity did an interview with the guys on 680 this morning and he said he has no control over any of the football team's coordinator, position, or assistant coaching positions. It's 100% Richt. The only hand he has in the process is the salary. Richt asks for an amount to pay a coach and Mcgarity either approves it or not.

He was quite emphatic about it too. I really think he gives Richt 100% control over hiring his staff.

It puts the lotion on its skin or, it gets the hose again<

From what I have read it looks like Alabama wants Wilson and from what you just posted it seems that McGarity and Richt are tossing the hot potato back and forth.

Also could be McGarity's way of getting everything in order to get rid of Richt if next year goes badly. He is reinforcing that all choices are up to Richt. No one else.

I don't see CMR leaving till CMR *wants* to leave. Before the grandbaby talk last week, I figured he'd go to save the souls of the heathen Pygmies.

So why are no other teams interested in our offensive coaches? GA Southern doesn't really count.

Why would he quit if he was trying to save the Saban's ?

Why would you assume that? If you work...and another company called you up and offered more money and better benefits, would you listen to them, or stay put?
