Week 3 Thread

(Open the image in a new tab to see the entire details)

Rank, AP, Team, Previous Week

1. [1]Alabama (1)
2. [18]Michigan (3)
3. [3]Clemson (5)
4. [21]Ole Miss (2)
5. [15]Miami (Fl) (4)
6. [6]LSU (9)
7. [NR]UCF (6)
8. [24]Texas Tech (8)
9. [13]UCLA (7)
10. [5]Stanford (NR)
11. [9]Georgia (10)
12. [NR]Georgia Tech (22)
13. [16]Washington (13)
14. [11]Oklahoma State (11)
15. [4]Ohio State (15)
16. [7]Louisville (17)
16. [17]Northwestern (16)
18. [14]Oklahoma (12)
19. [25]Fresno State (NR)
20. [NR]Minnesota (NR)
21. [NR]Maryland (24)
22. [8]Florida State (19)
22. [NR]Missouri (NR)
22. [NR]Utah (NR)
25. [NR]Houston (NR)

So my rankings are 18/25 in the AP, with Alabama, Clemson, and LSU hit squarely.

SEC Teams:

1. Alabama
4. Ole Miss
6. LSU
11. Georgia
22. Missouri
31. South Carolina
34. Auburn
40. Texas A&M
44. Florida
50. Tennessee
54. Arkansas
71. Vanderbilt
81. Mississippi State
88. Kentucky

Flame away, and I'll do my best to rationalize the rankings

Michigan #2 looks legit.

Shows how dumb computer rankings are.

Four wins are four wins. Style points are not a factor in the formula.

I don't know what kind of voodoo your system is using, but I support it.

I'm sure over time it will work out. That's the reason computer rankings don't really mean anything till week 7 or 8

Home wins against Rice, Sam Houston State, and SMU are not very heavy. Most ranked teams are either undefeated or have beaten stronger teams, or have away wins. Texas A&M has neither of the three.

The away win against Penn State really helped their case.

It takes weeks for these types of rankings to even out. Anyone bashing these rankings now is a dumb arse. That's why BCS rankings aren't released until later in the season.

I know that things will work out as sample sizes increase, but I just can't help but laugh at Michigan moving up after that game against UConn.

You should probably make squeaking by two shitty teams a factor in the formula.
