I swear Saban frickin' runs the SEC man! I am so jealous, yet I admire this guy. He has command of the entire fan base and I predict Bama to run the table again this year and 2-3 out of the next 5 years. Beast...

Saban on Kenny Bell

Honestly, and I don't care what anybody says I've always admired UA. The first book I ever read as a kid about college football was Mickey Herskowitz's bio on Bear Bryant. I wish that UGA had half the sucess that UA has had over the years. Saban is the debil and sold his soul I'm convinced but hard not to admire what he has accomplished in a short time.

UA and Bryant/Saban are the yardstick for everybody else in football.

If you look over the history of college football, the most hated college coaches all have one thing in common: they win the big games.

I think he will eventually go down as the best. He is definitely got a plan and can work the plan, no doubt.

Best coach in college football and frankly his philosophy is what we need throughout the U.S. in general. Saban would make a great POTUS. The key component in Saban's system is discipline. With discipline comes positive winning attitude, team synergy, execution, minimal mistakes and victories. Not surprisingly, discipline is what is lacking in Richt's system.

Well, there's that and a staff that's 3 times the size of pretty much everyone elses.

Discipline-Wasn't BAMA winning the Fulmer Cup mid summer?

I think it is as much perception as anything. Nice guy Richt versus hard arse Saban.

We run a consistent top 10 program that wants to be a top 3 program. We put as many pros to work as any team. We recruit as well as anybody BUT Bama.

Basically, we are like everybody else at the moment that wants to be more like Bama.

100+ D1 teams want to be more like us.

In contrast, our recruits and classes are that different from Bama at all, however, Bama does do a better job at developing their players and making them more physical....

What do you base this on? When you say discipline, what are you talking about exactly?

He doesn't know what he's talking about. People like to get an idea in their head and go with it as face. If you think the football team at every college in America isn't smoking weed then you are the most oblivious person on the internet. It happens everywhere, even bama. I know 2 people who either have played or currently play (on the 2nd string, reasonable playing time) under saban at bama. They have both told me that the players smoke weed and Saban doesn't care. He's told them he knows they're going to smoke and that's fine, just don't get caught. Saban IS very strict when it relates to alcohol related frick ups, but then again so are most coaching staffs.

People think Richt is the one who is holding our program back as far as punishment, when in reality it's the UGA code of conduct and the APD. I guarantee you players at bama get away with 10 times more crap than our players do, but what can Richt do?

That's my biggest question to you tards who think Richt lacks discipline, and I want you to give me a clear, concise, rational answer....What Do You Want Richt to Do? Assign staff to follow every player from friday through sunday during the offseason? Put monitoring devices on them? Threaten them with expulsion if they go downtown? Seriously..what solutions can you come up with that would make Richt prevent a group of one hundred 18-21 year olds who live in Athens?

I think what he means is discipline ON the field. Bama players seldom jump offside, rarely commit a false start, or get beat pass blocking and get that critical holding penalty that stops momentum.
We have all bitched about the stupid penalties Georgia players commit that kill drives.
9 penalties for -84 yards against Clempson.

Yes he is a pretty decent coach. Not bad at all.
Best ever, not yet. If he takes 2-3 of the next five NC's then the debate is on, I suppose.

Love Richt, he just can't get over the hump.

To me it's pretty obvious. The lack of discipline instilled in CMR's teams translates into poor performance on and off the field. Specifically:
1. More penalties on the field ex. We had 9 penalties for 85 yards vs Clemson, Bama had 4 penalties for 25 yards vs VT
2. Poor execution on the field. You need only watch the bad snap that cost us the game or generally poor defense and OL play to confirm.
3. Ongoing discipline issues off the field. While this has improved, we have certainly had our share of high profile players who have not panned out due to discipline issues. Sure Mark disciplines said players after the fact in some cases by kicking them off the team but what is missing is instilling daily discipline that prevents the big screw-ups in the first place.

I want him to suspend players for the easy games on the schedule, not for a big opener against a top ten opponent.
