I know I'm a nut but I just found proof of something that's bothered me for years. The 1st deck of the student side (East) of Kyle Field at one time had portals midway up. Then it didn't. And I'm talking before the section was removed last summer.
I'm guessing that they were removed when The Zone was built but I can't yet prove that.

Was the concourse lower than it was before the demolition last year?

I can't say I remember them. But it doesn't mean they weren't there. I sat on the 2nd and 3rd deck mostly as a student. But I can say there wasn't construction at Kyle at all in the early 90s.
I posted this pic in the 2nd post in the thread. I think it's from ~96 based on the surroundings (no Deware, grass surface, no Bright). And they were definitely there then. Think Zone construction is a pretty good guess.

It used to be on the ground like the West side, just not sure how long ago that was.
