Due to academic issues. Release coming.
Looks like Tennessee will be going with

We should still be very good, and this improves us defensively, but losing your two-year starter at PG is definitely not ideal despite his inconsistency and poor defense.

When he was hot he was hot but when he was off he was waaaay off.

A few tweets from Tennessee writers have stated that Golden and Martin's relationship was at the very least "rocky". Could just want a change in leadership.
Not really sure though. Certainly more will probably come out.

Why would Tennessee want Trae Golden out? I don't think this makes us better at all.

If he's causing issues on the team behind closed doors then I could see why. Your PG needs to be your leader and have his shite straight.
It doesn't shock me though. There were questions about him during his recruitment (FWIW Kentucky recruited him as well), academically and otherwise. This will probably end up being addition by subtraction for the Vols.

He's absolutely awful at defense and in general is very slow and couldn't penetrate when facing athletic defenders making him utterly useless and a huge liability.
But I agree - there's no way this improves us this season. Take away his minutes if you have to but you need his scoring.
