They are testing a new QB just like us, but they probably beat us.

They'll have trouble scoring against us so we'll be in it.

This. Your defense will keep you in every game. It will all come down to how well your O-line gels and how Swag performs. A consistent running game would be nice to open things up for Swag and take some of the pressure off him.

Wow, I wholeheartedly agree....actually a great analysis....

Neal and Chase brought up an interesting topic yesterday on the podcast about the QB race. Do you all think for Chad to get the starting job he will have to really out due Ryan by a lot, because the team is more familiar with Ryan and might think Ryan deserves it? Kind of like Sims last year at Alabama?

Not really... Sims won the job because of his feet. Them running plays that could be designed rollouts and his incredible effectiveness at executing those plays won him the job
Chad is the good parts of what we want from either of our other QBs... Except for the whole thuglyfe part

For what it's worth, Sims was a 5th year senior, and Ryan is in his 3rd year in the program. I don't know how much of a factor that would be, but it could make a difference to some extent.

I think the teams wants to win and wants the best player on the field at QB. Here is Evan Engram on Chad Kelly from 247:
Engram has been working with Kelly during summertime voluntary workouts and offered his take on the quarterback and how he is handling himself on and off the field.
“He’s making smart decisions,” Engram said. “Off the field, he’s on the field. Any free time he has he’s in the IPF getting better, just focusing on his craft. He’s making good decisions. He’s staying out of trouble, staying away from possible things that could get him in trouble. He’s made a good turnaround in terms of becoming a good leader and built a lot of chemistry with us as an offense and a team. He’s doing really well.”
Engram also believes if Kelly wins the job, he can bring something to the Ole Miss offense that was missing last season.
“Last year, we really didn’t have a consistent deep threat ball, and he has a really strong arm. He knows how to throw deep balls. He knows how to look for them pre-snap, and he’s real big on making that big play. I think he can bring that aspect to the game this year,” said Engram.
“Honestly, it’s been really smooth this off-season. We rallied around all three of them (quarterbacks). We had our seven-on-sevens and our one-on-one days and work with the quarterbacks and stuff. It’s been really smooth. All the guys are getting reps. They’re building chemistry with us. It hasn’t been challenging. This camp, I feel like, is going to be just how consistent (we are) in the one’s and the first two’s (first and second teams). I think we’re looking forward to all three of them having a big camp.”

Was just talking with a buddy about this.
It is gonna be great to have a downfield passing game again. Kelly's big arm will help some with the running game, to an extent, by preventing teams from loading up the box with safeties and nickelbacks.

I was gonna share this point. Sims had earned his chance and the Bama team was behind him. He was obviously better than Coker and deserved to get the start.
I say let Pellerin play the Brunetti role. Anyone seen that kid? He's huge. He really looks like a young Dak.

I'm really high on Pellerin as well he's a really durable tough runner that can make the throws he needs to on the move,
though as a freshman and not having years with plays or schemes. I'd rather him redshirt and fill that role in the Shea Patterson years.
Have 4 years to have his packages and to back up Shea.

Or he turn out being better than Shea?
Kid didn't sign with us to sit the bench. Don't fool yourself.

Damn, y'all are already crowning Shea as the starter.

Pellerin has no accuracy but that can be taught. I think he can be molded into a Relf type role. All that being said Shea is the great white hope.

I realize that everyone expects Shea to be the starter, but some posters are already assuming he'll leapfrog Kelly, Buchanan, Kincade, and Pellerin the moment he steps on campus in 2016.
Newsflash, true freshman QBs in the SEC don't perform well.

It's not only message board posters that think that Shea is coming for the top spot.

Welp, the first one has bitten the dust.
Hebert Moore out for the year.

At least it's in a position where we have great depth

Who else thinks he is going to come in and unseat Chad Kelly with a year of SEC experience under his belt? Seriously?
