Leach would recruit fine. Read his book; he puts a lot of thought in picking "inferior talent." His explanation as to why he wanted Wes Welker, a guy who basically redefined the slot receiver position yet was offered by no one but TTU, and his whole philosophy on quarterbacks is pretty much genius. It's obvious when he explains it, but yet it's unorthodox.

If Leach made sure to pick up a good DC and worked to keep some talent on that side of the ball so he didn't have to score 70 points to ensure a win, he'd kill it here. That's the only caveat. He'd need to take defense a little more seriously so he could also win a game with 28 points.

If he did, I suspect he'd have similar success here that Patrino had at Arkansas, which was on the cusp of breaking through when Patrino let his personal life wreck his professional life. And Patrino's recruiting wasn't out of this world.

Serious question here cause I don’t know the answer.

Is there a reason everyone is mentioning Leach?

I mean other than the fact that he has made two below average programs into a good teams? I mean do we have some sort of connection there? Or is it just “we are OM and better than WSU”

Cause unless we are able to throw a shitload more money him. Wtf would he want to come here?

Don’t worry. We’re not hiring Mike Leach. It’s a pipe dream for some.

Say it with me: Bill Clark or Neal Brown.

Everyone still remembers him being a top choice when we hired Freeze. A large part of the fansbase wanted to give Leach a chance then and those thoughts are being validated by his success at WSU.

If Kansas can hire Les Miles we can hire Mike Leach. It’ll take good leadership though

Sounds a lot like our last coach.

Les got turned down for a bunch of jobs last year. Let's not act like that is some huge recruiting win for Kansas

He hasn’t coached in the SEC yet as a HC. Coaches have big egos. Winning at the top division of the top conference is what they want to do (unless you’re Matt Luke and you just want to kick field goals).

Also money talks. It’s not like he’s holding out for Texas or Ohio State job. He’s had non-traditional gigs his whole career. Ole Miss fits that mold.
