Ok I really don't give a shite either. But you shouldn't come on this board making fun of fans who are distrustful about what Jones says. It makes you look a bit foolish. You must be either too young to be aware or you just refuse to acknowledge that the Ole Miss administration has a long and documented history of lying to the community about these things. Just because something comes out in a press release doesn't mean shite.

Ole Miss is a MUCH better university today than it was when Khayat took over. Bitch and moan all you want, but these changes have made a huge difference.
The Kyayat era was a time of unprecedented growth. The vast bulk of the endowment was built when he was there. How is Jones so much better?

Im making fun of the "theyre taking away ole miss" crowd because, over the past two years, theyve added 40+ pieces of signage to multiple athletics complexes as well as attach it to an 85 million dollar building

Read more carefully...dc clearly stated "when khayat took over"
in other words....before khayat.

People need to give the tradition clingers some slack. I liked all of our southern traditions but realized that they were harmful and have moved on, but some people are going to need a little more time and the rest of us should try and be more understanding and try to explain things civilly rather than insult them.
I mean think about it. A school in the middle of Mississippi who has been the poster boy of southern pride for a hundred years all the sudden starts to change things and y'all are surprised and offended that there's a backlash? Get some perspective people, and understand this is gonna be a long process.

The same people I see losing their shite on facebook over this are the same people who swear that obama was born in kenya, chemtrails are real, and that the government is gearing up turn against its citizens.
I make fun of all those things as well
I make fun of all those things as well

Well those people make up a big portion of our fanbase and you shouldn't be surprised by that. Insulting people's intelligence and attacking their character isn't the way to go about getting people on board.

before khayat.
A lot of folks don't realize that Ole Miss was struggling to stay accredited before Khayat got to campus.
The coffers were empty, the campus infrastructure was crumbling, attendance was declining, the school was struggling to hire faculty, etc.

You shouldn't be making fun of anyone with that logic "Guys, we're fine, they put up signs all around campus two years ago so there is no way they are going to take the name away in the future."

This. While I made some wildly dramatic posts earlier about nazi germany, I would never place Ole Miss on the same tier or even in the same hemisphere as the atrocities that occurred during the Holocaust. I think this will be a hard change for a good portion of people. I don't think that makes it any less necessary of a change.

His point makes sense. He's not saying that it won't happen, but rather that it's not particularly logical to conclude that it will happen. The evidence points to the contrary.

"They're taking away the gray pants because they remind people of the Confederacy."
Overheard that one on the Burgundy Room balcony the Friday night before 27-24

"They're taking away the gray pants because they remind people of the Confederacy."
Well there might be some truth to that.
When the gray uniforms were introduced, the confederacy wasn't in mind at all. If you'll notice, the gray shirts are simply an extension of the pants we've been using for decades.
See, same color as the pants we've always worn, with the same stripes. That's why we went with them.
Also, if you'll recall, gray was a big fad for a while in college football (TN, OK St., OR, and many other big schools played with gray jerseys).
That said, after some slapdick on ESPN called them "Confederate gray," the athletics administration pulled back on them. The intent wasn't to remind people of the confederacy, but it did.
So that's why white and blue pants were added to the repertoire, with the silver pants still being our primary bottoms.

Because their fears aren't founded in anything reasonable.
It's like people saying "OMG TEH EBOLA VIRUS IS GONNA KILL US ALL." Yes, there's a patient with Ebola in Atlanta, so I can sorta see where their fears are coming from, but these fears are still to outlandish to be considered realistic.
It's about degree and scale. It certainly is possible that they could ditch "Ole Miss," but we have no real reason to think that they will given how committed they are to the name as a brand.

I wish they'd take "REBELS" off the leg of the navy pants and instead put two white stripes to match the navy jersey.
Also, if could add two blue stripes to the white pants when we wear white......

I completely agree with you on the blue pants, but I really like the solid white pants with the white and blue tops as is.
