What's truly ridiculous is the fact that Germany has overcome that stigma. shite, they make money off tourist who visit to the concentration camps. If the Germans can overcome attempted genocide, I think we can revamp our image and respect amungst peers

Germans weren't still carrying swastika flags over 100 years after Hitler whilst claiming it was in the name of "heritage".

Days like these I have little hope for our fan base. Our fans kick and scream about nothing.

If only we could focus these efforts on fielding a good football team.

Some of our fans would rather win the party and live in their lilywhite suburban fantasyland than actually beat Alabama.

Sweet attitude, keep it up.

I'm not saying I don't want it to happen, I'm just saying it won't with all of these "classes" and useless BS they put Fraternity counsils through so that they can "change the world". If you want to change fraternities at OM, you have to kick every one off campus for at least 4 years and start over again. End of story.

I completely agree. I wasn't ever suggesting that we should just moved past it all. Only try to relate the idea that people are holding onto something, thinking that if they let go, everything they have previously known will cease to exist.

Yeah I can't believe southerners are still holding on to their past after we killed 10 million people in extermination camps. The audacity.

I can't decide if you truly feel this way. There are plenty of things about Mississippi to be proud of and there are things that should be shameful. No matter how you feel, that will never change. It's about making people realize that today can and will be different.

Overall, everything written in the report seems reasonable.

Accepting that the school should be called the University of Mississippi isn't going to change any type of racism...

Racism exists everywhere.. all it would do would make it to where outsiders couldn't seperate themselves from us anymore.

Perception is reality. Sure, racism is everywhere. Racism is a part of the SEC.... It's just no other school decided to attach themselves to every old south symbol they could find. If we attach ourselves to the old south, the old south will attach itself to us. That is when we have people Georgia hanging nooses. Where are these stories from the rest of the SEC?

btw this has little to do with what is being discussed today. Just an overall type evaluation. We will still be the Ole Miss Rebels... It isn't changing.

Don't even pretend like slaves didn't die all the fricking time. Extermination camps or plantations, it doesn't matter where it happened. It happened.

And you can spout any shite you want about how the Confederate flag didn't stand for white power and racism. Doesn't matter. It's been co-opted by hate groups and that's what it is now.

You know the swastika is a Hindu symbol that represents the beginning of the universe? (Something like that.) Doesn't matter, Germans are smart enough to know to distance themselves from it.

Why can't Southerners do the same?

Trust me, I don't want to cover up our past. That's not the answer. But the frickers who still wanna hold onto things like the Confederate flag and other Old South symbolism are doing us NO good.

We can honor our fallen and still admit they fought for a misguided cause.

I'm not trying to defend the confederate flag, I just can't stand when people compare it to Nazi germany, which brought about the biggest atrocity in history. There is no comparison

Someone else brought it up. I'm simply pointing out what's holding us back from moving past slavery and how Germany has completely changed their image.
