Things could change depending on how the rest of the season pans out, but I would like to see us target Mike Norvell, Mike Bobo and Jeff Brohm.

On the second level, I'd put Scott Satterfield, Jason Candle and Bill Clark. Maybe Frank Wilson in that group, too.

I'm not big on going after a coordinator, but Joe Moorhead at Penn St was a HC at Fordham, where he took a nothing program with huge challenges and made them nationally relevant. This is probably a wild card - he might would rather wait on a better opportunity.

I get the feeling that Brent Venables is like Bud Foster, he’s a career coordinator. That’s not to say that he couldn’t be successful as a head coach only that he seems comfortable to continue being an assistant.

Well, if there was any doubt it's gone now, Matt Luke won't get the job

If this saves Bert’s job and assures us that Matt Luke is moving on then this is a victory in the long term.

Agreed.

This season's record doesn't matter. What matters is the general coaching staff shifts and openings in the SEC and whether or not we can capitalize on it.

I made just about the same quote when talking to some buddies tonight at dinner...then it dawned on me, is that a good thing? That obese piece of shite has the worlds largest horseshoe jammed up his arse every year he plays us. I’m tired of looking at his fat face across the sideline when he beats us.

Bert may beat us but they’ll never finish better than 4th in the West. I can live with that. The devil you know...

Neal has an article up about the coaching search. Norvell, Strong, MacIntyre, and Wilson seem to be the names that keep coming up. That’s pretty consistent with one of Godfrey’s pieces.

Norvell and Strong are my favorites out of those. MacIntyre seems like a realistic option regardless of NCAA issues, but I have no idea what type of recruiter he is. There’s also some baggage there. Wilson seems like the safe hire if the NCAA situation is worse than expected and the others say no.

Strong is in the middle of my list.

OK with Mike Norvell.

I think Norvell is the best realistic option

Easily I just hope one of the other SEC schools doesn't go after him as then we have no chance at him.

I'd be okay if Charlie Strong was the guy. I wouldn't be super excited but I wouldn't be disappointed either. He did a phenomenal job at Louisville and I think a lot of the problem at Texas was Texas and not him. He'd clean up with South Florida recruiting.

Jay's team played sloppy football v a bad Tennersee team. Jay needs a few more years. He will be in demand, ala Mike White.
