Wasn't Justin Bell the one out for a year with an ACL injury? Jackson gets a pass on him....hell for a guy that size to stay in shape with that injury.

ah...I keep getting those two confused.

It's a narrative that people are too lazy to not run with. Like I said....pretty much the same people calling to put Kincade in during the Peach Bowl.
Nah, I've been saying it for well over a year. Not one player on that OL has improved, not named Tunsil. Just step back, imagine no Tunsil, and think of where we are as a team. The narrative was to blame Bo during TCU. The fact Bo accomplished what he did, behind that line, is a miracle...and that's leaving out our lack of any run game, which also falls on...lulz

Yea.. Bell is the one who just prefers to be oval shaped.

And just lets defenders walk by him as they text their post-game booty call.

Let me ask you this simple question:
Who evaluated and recruited these guys? I don't see people calling for Kiffin to be fired. Or any other position coach. Who was he suppose to develop? How about anybody not named Tunsil? Tunsil has kept Luke's job and Luke had zero to do with his recruitment.
2012
Pierce Burton- gave us two solid years
Darone Bailey-had knee issues was a bust
Ben Still- starting center developed nicely
Robert Conyers- "sixth man"
2013
Tunsil
Golson-not Luke fault kid was a nut case
Daronte Bouldin-MS HS kid in RS year, not sure anyone expects him to be a stud in first year of action.
Davion Johnson-same as Bouldin
C. Morris*-added coming off Achilles injury
2014
Rod Taylor-by end of year was a starter
Tyler Putman-RS
Jordan Sims-RS and as lost significant weight
Fahn Cooper-starter
Sean Rawlings-RS
You couldn't ask for much more out of recruiting out of a three year period.

Ehh, you can spin it however you want. Fact is, if you think that is a solid group and we couldn't do better, I hate to break it to you...
There is a reason we need Richmond and Patterson so bad...and it isn't for depth.

Literally no one is saying our OL is solid and can't do any better.
Literally.....no one.

So you agree that change is needed?

Yes. More talent is needed. Dores broke it down pretty clearly of how out talent level, while improving in three short years, still is not where it needs to be.
We barely have 6 or 7 serviceable linemen (5 starters with 1 or 2 backups tends to leave you scrambling when a player goes down). Next year we'll have probably closer to 8-10

huh? Our OL has gotten worse...even counting Nutt's last year.

We've signed 10 o-linemen since 2013. 3 have played considerable minutes. The rest have redshirted for the most part and are just now coming into their own
Again, we only had 7 linemen worth a damn enough to throw into SEC play. It will be almost twice that next year

I don't think you remember Nutt's last year....

I see two issues that have left our offensive line in less than desirable position.
1) The o-line had the least amount of talent of all the positions, when Matt Luke took over as coach.
2) The o-line we have, with the exception of Tunsil and maybe Conyers, really don't fit our offensive scheme very well.
We have great size and strength guys who should be able to do well pushing the pile, but our offensive scheme is predicated on speed and agility, which we would rate poor to fair.
None of our offensive linemen should weigh more than 315-320 and those should be 6'4"-6'5" guys. All of the 6'3" guys should come in about 300-310 lbs.
Center- Ben Still's knee injury leaves him falling on his face often during games. Robert Conyers is the better athlete at that position, but is a better right tackle than Fahn Cooper.
Guards- all the guards are too slow and Conyers attempt to play guard didn't work too well.
Left Tackle- Tunsil is great, he's ok when he is injured. The torn bicep did limit him at the end of the season.
Right Tackle- Fahn Cooper isn't great at right tackle, I like him at left tackle better, behind Tunsil.
Richmond will be the future at left tackle, but will probably play right tackle next season unless Fahn does a better job in the spring. With Tunsil out in the spring expect to see Christian Morris and Fahn Cooper getting most of the work at left tackle.
I would like to see them working in the Spring where they will be playing in the fall.
Left tackle- 1) Laremy Tunsil 2) Christian Morris 3)Talbot Buys
Left guard- 1) Aaron Morris 2) Rod Taylor 3) Craig Frigo
Center- 1)Ben Still 2) Robert Conyers 3) Sean Rawlings
Right guard- 1) Justin Bell 2) Daronte Bouldin 3) Jordan Sims
Right tackle- 1) Fahn Cooper 2) Davion Johnson 3) Tyler Putnam
For next season you could see an offensive line of:
Laremy Tunsil, Drew Richmond, Tyler Putnam
Aaron Morris, Deronte Bouldin, Craig Frigo
Robert Conyers, Ben Still, Sean Rawlings
Rod Taylor, Patterson (F), Justin Bell
Fahn Cooper, Christian Morris, Davion Johnson
Howard, Givens and a 5th signee would take a red-shirt.
You would like to see them all in better shape and with better agility.
What you may see is younger players with more agility playing in front of more experienced players. Which means we are recruiting better talent and would give experience at depth.
We haven't had quality depth, and maybe we begin to get to that point next season as some of the younger players move into starting roles.
I believe they are still another year away from having 2 quality offensive line units, which is CF's ultimate goal.
The defense has enjoyed much more depth and it breeds competition for playing time. I hope we can have the same for the offense.
If the offense line is not productive at the end of next season, we should look for a replacement for Luke.
With at least 5, four star players or better on the roster, there is no reason the offensive line should be as unproductive as this season.

that 2 year old thread bump. Agree. Now Luke has a ton of talent, but why can't we run the ball?
Posted on 11/6/16 at 11:40 pm to rebelcommodore
we lack talent and depth at rb

When our premier back is only getting 10 or 12 carriers a game, depth isn't the issue.
