explain yourself, good sir.

I think that it is the greatest form of it because it is groupthink racism that thinks we have to treat one group of people a certain way different than others. It encourages the idea that one party HAS to treat another party differently than it would on normal basis. Not that there weren't good causes for it in it's time. Obviously it exists still, but most racism i come into contact with is on a person by person basis and is fairly limited.

The greatest racism in America is in it's many closed and predatory societies. What most people fail to realize us that those closed societies are a magnification of the outside world from which they came. Racism exists everywhere in this country and it is never going to disappear completely due to human nature. We in the south do take on an unfair amount of public perception but hey what are you gonna do.

First off: I have never been the beneficiary of AA.

The other side of that coin is that it forces many to avoid the subconscious traps of cronyism and ethnocentrism. A common refrain from some is that people tend to gravitate toward those who look like them and have similar customs and mannerisms. The workplace is no different. AA is NOT a panacea, nor is it perhaps as vitally necessary to even the playing field as it was at its inception, but it does serve a purpose in many forums and is hardly the greatest racism in this nation today.

IMHO.

Agree.

The perception of the South may be unfair, but let's be real, it isn't completely unearned in many respects. Other parts of the country are hardly blameless, but the South continues to have issues with race relations, albeit far less egregious and frequent than in the past, thankfully.

I say that as someone who was born in the South and would rather live there (or TX) than anywhere else.

i don't think lowering what you need to score for a job/promotion exactly permits fair play. It doesn't really level the playing field and it should be highly insulting that some white liberal thinks you can't score as high because of skin color.

Like I intimated by saying it's not a panacea, I don't think AA is perfect, nor do I think it will exist permanently.

I just disagree that that is the greatest form of racism our country struggles with

I never said it was unearned. I just said there is racism everywhere and a lot of the people who point at the south and claim that we are the worst racist on the planet are just as guilty of racism and are trying to redirect the blame.

the north controls the media better so their racism stays more in the closet. plus the north also veils their racism in programs designed to help other races when all it does is drag them down and actually put them at a disadvantage. They sell these ideas as fair play and leveling the playing field but it really doesn't work out in the real world.

AA good idea on paper, terrible when implemented, welfare sounds like a good idea on paper but its a mess in real life. The best ways to get equality and fair play is hard work and it takes time.

I have a problem with people like that, too.

I just think that there is a propensity from some Southerners to also redirect blame as a knee jersey reaction to their regions being called out for racial problems. I can't even really fault them--it's human nature to not want to be viewed negatively.

Best thing for folks to do is quit pointing fingers, realize we still have a lot of progress that needs to be made in many areas of the country, and get to work bettering our immediate communities as best we can. Most of us do that already, tbh.

Many times it's not that simple, though.

I wish I could articulate my views on this better. I'm going to bow out of this for that reason before something I say gets misunderstood. I will leave y'all with this. I have lived among the most racist people of all races and backgrounds that exist in our society and believe me when I tell y'all it exists in every corner of this country, and as much as I hate to say this it's never going away as long as humans have the ability for independent thought.

where are the biggest cities located? the north, therefore the biggest media comes from the north. I never said they only ran stories about the south but it plays into it. It is much easier to attack a different area than the one you live in. Also most americans are retards so you portray the south as backwards and stupid with duck dynasty, swamp people, moonshiners, and all the other stupid reality shows.

One of the 57 states?

We'll never be a united nation. Too many interests at playing the blame game for political clout. You can't politic for all people, you have to specify which group your legislation will benefit which is pretty sad. Every group from every area of the country is guilty of this, not just a southern thang.

Wouldn't trust anything by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The Klan is worthless. In the early 90's they held a rally in Shreveport, which brought 3 Klansmen and over 100 protesters.
