Well, that's religious. Religion goes so deep that it's tough to put into the same category. Once you put Heaven and Hell on the line, all bets are off it seems.

and that Black History Month and BET is racist.

Well...yeah, that's bad

I agree with everything you said. I have never looked at it like that.

As long as there's not somebody trying to make a national deal of it, Memphians (not political types for the most part) tend to work well together.

That's hardly a southern thing. It's religious. There's roughly a billion christians around the planet. I don't think they are all located in the south.

I have a hard time at viewing Memphis as southern. I know there are plenty of southern type folk who live there, but when I think 'southern' I think Mississippi, North LA, backwood TN, etc etc..

Memphis is scarcely southern. It tries to be, but something is just missing.

I guess I just don't know very religious people outside of the south. Clearly they exist, but the people I know in other regions aren't as gung-ho about it as the people I know from the south.

They certainly haven't been blatantly blasting them on social media like I've seen the last couple of days.

You'll find the same thing in old money East Coast enclaves, and in some very liberal areas that aren't tolerant of conservatives. It's just so much more widespread in the South and even though the region is very class conscious, it permeates every class. Social pressure isn't limited to the South, but it's definitely a way of life there.

To me, "southern" is everything from east Texas to the Carolinas and extending north to southern Tennessee. Most of Arkansas is included.

Being stuck in your ways isn't always a bad thing...

I don't know why the south is labeled as racist besides its history. I've lived here my whole life and I've only met a few racists. Most are 70+

Sorry and I don't mean to dampen your sense of adventure, but LB itself is a hole and you don't want to climb in it...

There is a lot of stuff I love about California, but it is not the state I grew up in anymore either. Just do research before jumping.

Now that I think about it, I know a lot of people from the midwest, and they seem to be the most....level.

If that makes sense. None of them come across as the type of people who are going to be too extreme about anything.

Oh the money would have to be right. I'd be keeping my same exact job, but transferring. But she'd need a SIGNIFICANT raise.

Florida is full of people from everywhere else. California was like that in the 60's, Texas will be soon.
