re: Where were you?

Senior year of high school. In Mr. Wong's calculus class.

Another male math teacher who was Wong's friend and apparently off that period popped his head in and told Wong that a plane had hit the WTS. He thought it was a Cessna and we all kind of shrugged it off.

This was before many people were texting and no one had the internet on their phones.

Class lets out and the halls are abuzz with chatter about it, and although no one has much detail, word is it was bigger than a Cessna.

The next period was home room. My home room class looked it up on the internet and we saw that it was a big arse jet and a bad fire. Teacher freaked out.

We turn on the classroom TV (which was a CRT - this was before flat screens!) and I shite you not, two freakin minutes into watching the live broadcast we watched the second plane hit LIVE.

The was THE craziest moment of my life. The chill that went throughout my body was so intense. Pandemonium broke out in that class. Girls screaming, guys openly yelling "holy shite!" and "oh frick!" with no repercussion because the teacher (who was normally strict) was utterly floored. People ran out into the halls. It's hard to relate to people now, because it doesn't seem like a rational reaction, but we thought it was an all out attack and there would be waves and waves of it. Kids left school in the middle of the day thinking they'd attack the schools next. Clearly, they weren't going to attack a high school in Texas, but at the time we really thought it was possible.

What a crazy day. Seared in my memory.

I was in Fayetteville, although I lived in downtown Little Rock at the time. I was sleeping on a trundle bed, stopping back through on my way home from a business trip.

"get up! WWIII is happening!" was what I was awoken to. Didn't see either plane hit, watched both towers fall, watched TV the entire day. I remember where I ate lunch, where I ate dinner and who I was with.

On my way to a job site in Social Circle Ga.

7th grade classroom.

I was at work, walked by an office and saw people crowded around a TV. A few minutes later, the second plane hit.

As we stood watching, a retired Montgomery firefighter looked at me and said "That's too much fire. They can't put that out."

Sleeping in my girlfriend's (wife now) bed when her roommate came running in telling us what happened. Glued to the tv the rest of the day. Then spent a couple hours filling up with gas because rumors started going around that gas was gonna be exorbitant the next day...which was bullshite.

I feel just as much anger to this day every time I think back on that day or see photos.

I was sitting at my desk on the trading floor here in Memphis. I had talked to a guy at Cantor that morning about selling some treasuries. Another trader on the floor started screaming that something had happened in NYC. Just before that he was one the phone with a very good friend in the 1st tower that was close to the top floor when the phone went dead. He tried to call back a couple of times and them called the guys cell phone. The guy told him that something hit the build and that they were all burning up.

It came across the bloomberg soon after that saying that the building had been hit.

That was a shitty, shitty day.

Fort Sill, Ok. We had a PT test that morning, I was sitting on the couch chilling watching Fox news when the 1st plane hit. Watched the 2nd hit the went to work. By the time I got to the gate the line was backed up about 2 miles(they were searching every veh).
