Junior in high school. Was sitting in chemistry class, and we were watching a documentary on the chemistry behind the Manhattan Project. Our teacher stopped class and told us that someone had bombed the National Mall and the WTC. When we got to our next class, we were trying to get on CNN to find out what happened, but of course their servers were just being destroyed.
There was a lot of unease among the students and faculty for the rest of the day. I'm not sure I really understood the severity of it until I got home and turned on the news.

Fort Lewis, Washington
We were getting ready to Fall In for morning PT when our First Sergeant came walking out. He motioned for us to gather around him, which was something he never did before, and told us about the first tower being hit. We all walked to the DFAC (chow hall) where they had all the TVs on...got there just as the second tower was hit. The base got locked down once they determined it wasn't a random occurrence, and was an actual attack.

Here is a very interesting story I found from someone else.
Alabama Gymnastics coach David Patterson, at the time, was getting ready to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of being cancer free on 9/11/01. The family was decorating the house when the attacks happened and most of their memories of the day involve cleaning up a party that never took place. The Pattersons did not commemorate the event again until 2011, when they felt enough time had past. The celebration included family, friends, alumni and many who had been affected by cancer and 9/11.

Freshman year walking into civics as the news spread. Then during class we watched the second hit. I remember watching Walt choke the one muslim kid during lunch.

On the way to Nashville for work training. We were sent back home as soon as we got there because working for Enterprise, there was mass confusion with so many needing one way rentals to get home.
I didn't see any footage until later in the afternoon when I stopped at the old Circuit City in Jackson, TN.

I was in fifth grade in Richmond. My teacher wheeled in a TV and we started watching in my class. My dad was actually in New York on business but I obviously didn't know specifically where, so I was worried. I didn't want to be the center of attention so I didn't tell anybody. Kind of weird how I remember that.
My mom came to pick me up and had friends go get my brother and sister to go back home. As soon as we got back, my dad called just to check in. He was up toward midtown, but that was a relief. He borrowed a friend's car and drove back that afternoon.
I remember seeing several fighter jets overhead throughout the afternoon. I assume they were keeping them in the air in case they needed to intercept any threats to Washington or Norfolk.

I was in Moorhead, MS and I thought people were joking until I saw a tv and I didn't move for a few hours.

Were you wondering what the big deal was?

No, it was just crazy to see and affected me deeply 13 years ago. Are you trolling me?

I bet you thought to yourself, "Man that sucks. Let's move on."

Maybe your thread next fall won't get whacked.

This. This is how someone trolls. But seriously, I didn't get a chance to clarify my opinion because I was getting bitched at.
I understand someone mourning the loss of a loved one on this day. I'm not that insensitive.
Now, speaking of moving forward... You shouldn't judge my entire character by one thread or let his affect our previously serene relationship. ILY cas.
