Link to where I hate poor people?
I just said in this thread that I want to give them milk, bread, cheese, eggs, and baby food.
Is wanting I give them food hating? I think you are confused.

No fruits and vegetables? Are you hoping they get high cholesterol and die?

a smart guy, I'm sure you can see the blatant hypocrisy of Christians turning their backs on the poor.
Me giving tax money to the government to distribute to the poor at an incredibly inefficient rate is not charity and doesn't count for anything. I understand you need to think it does because it's all you do for the poor. One of the many issues with federal attempts to war with poverty is the disincentivization of local charity efforts and an abdication to the government of all efforts to help the poor. You're just Exhibit A today.

Is there not an argument for economies of scale with government "charity" programs? Could charities realistically aid all the poor in this country, specifically the rural poor?
There's some truth to what you're saying though.

Why not give your money directly to poor people? No need to get the government involved.

Because once the government gets their cut of my upper middle class single white male salary there isn't enough left.

Careful you will upset his American blend of Christianity where there are equal parts capitalism, libertarianism, and feel good Christianity. The poors are bad and the producers are virtuous.

If I know Bass at all, he's about to call you an idiot.

I would wager a permaban on my charitable giving vs yours, doubt you would honor it though

There certainly is. I'm not opposed to safety net programs. But it's silly both to make a moral argument for them and to argue that someone is doing charity by advocating for other people's money to feed the poor.

There's some truth to what you're saying. I'd argue that there's not enough libertarian beliefs in the Christian church, personally. But I don't have a huge problem with what you're saying.
I really don't think the poor are looked down upon as much as the indolent are. We do confuse the two sometimes and assume they are always the same.

I'd bet almost everyone who frequents this board gives more to charity than Stonehog.

Only if you put one in for welshing. Oh and you have no idea how much they take from me nor any idea of what's left and what I do with it. I bet I give way more than you do (bad choice of words you're not a man of honor so substitute the word know for bet) you little shite stirring punk.

I deal with people on governmental assistance regularly in my line of work. I feel like the majority of those receiving assistance, more than %50, abuse the system. I see people regularly who sell their food stamps. The age of these people ranges from 18 and up, it's a "runs in the family" for a lot.

If you have enough money to pay for internet access, you aren't giving enough to the poor.
