Is called the Lone Star Card in Texas. And if I had my way it would only be good for milk, bread, eggs, cheese, baby food

Nothing else. Period.

From 2013. I believe the bill has passed since then.

Florida lawmakers are considering legislation that would ban those receiving government assistance from using their electronic benefits (EBT) cards at strip clubs, casinos and liquor stores.

Should add chicken & ground beef to the list but agree it should be for staples.

The sad part is there are actually people deluded enough to believe that.

So you just explicitly want to kill the poor, is that it? Feed them nothing but the unhealthiest food possible and hope they die young? Why not just execute them? Texas is really good at that, isn't it?

Get behind someone at the gro store, they go through and swipe their EBT (someone ELSE's money) and aren't required to show ID. I go through the same line and get ready to pay with my debit card (with MY money) and have to show ID to prove it's me.

I've never seen that happen. Ever. Where in the world did you see it?

I thought the thread was about food stamps? Not politics.

And the OP doesn't say "I hate food stamps" or "I hate people that use food stamps" or "I hate people that give people good stamps"

Food stamps are insurance against catastrophe. It allows the freedom to take chances on a business or changing jobs knowing you won't be left to starve if things go wrong. They also go to help quell social unrest. All worthy goals and worth the expense imho.

The problem the program has is perception. It's a program and spending the average person will see at the grocery store. You see the free riders abusing the system paid for by taxes and it pisses people off. Those on SNAP then all get lumped in as undeserving and there's public push to limit the program to stop this perceived abuse. That's not to say there isn't abuse, however, it is small potatoes compared to the abuses of corruption that sucks our coffers dry. That's hard to see though, so people focus on what they do see.

It's happened to me twice in Montgomery. Second time I was in a pissed off mood anyway and wouldn't show them my ID.

Lol. Quoting the program rules from a government website. Of course they don't say "spend this at the stripclub." But can you spend it at the strip club? Sure you can (obviously not every stripclub). Grow up.

I'm certain I will get flamed for this...but as an economic and statistical fact: means tested welfare programs create generational poverty and actually rob the poor through inflation.

Untill recently the poverty rate has been basically flat since the great society - under Obama poverty and food stamps use has sky rocketed.

So, Food Stamps are a bad idea. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Why do you hate poor people? Jesus taught that we should give everything to the poor until we only have enough to survive.

Judging by your jet ski escapades, it doesn't sound like you respect the teachings of Christ.

What do you do for the poor? Be as specific as possible. Lobbying for other people's money to feed them is an acceptable and expected response.

You're a smart guy, I'm sure you can see the blatant hypocrisy of Christians turning their backs on the poor.
