I am not keeping up with this thread, but do you really think UofC is a shite hole? From where that picture is taken, the opposite direction is considered one of the most picturesque campuses in the country

You guys get so uptight about anything that has Alabama listed at the top, or above Auburn.

I think it's the point that any campus in America has its quaint places and it's ugly places. OM's campus isn't ugly, neither is State's or certain parts of Southern Miss's. It's the fact that these idiots online release "Top Whatever" lists without doing proper investigation. They are just going off what someone else has said. Alabama has a beautiful campus. Other than BD though there isn't much on Bama's campus to differentiate it from any other campus. Vandy is the clear example here. Is it a nice campus? Sure. But Sawanee's campus is on a whole other level. But no one ever talks about Sawannee so the google hits aren't there. It's lazy fricking journalism. Especially from a "travel" magazine.

ETA: after revisiting to see New York's selection was Colgate there is no way Colgate beats out this:

Duke's campus is gorgeous.

Yeah. They have that Gothic architecture look borrowed from the older Ivies that makes you forget they're adjacent to a complete wasteland of a city. I really like walking around Duke just so long as there isn't a basketball game that day. Some universities would be so much more attractive if they didn't have students.

Well they should have used that picture then.

Are you saying that the picture they choose to use was in any way "beautiful"?

Nah. Maybe Springhill though, maybe.

Pretty enough, but so tiny that there are only a couple of really pretty areas in the whole campus. USA definitely does NOT belong in the State's top 3 IMO.

The Cotton District is directly off campus..

not really and that area looks kind of dark and sketchy to me. a student was recently mugged and murdered there.

I'd agree with this. Auburn holds a special place in my heart, but dang, Spring Hill is beautiful.

Toured UofA with daughter and grandson two Fridays ago. We were impressed with what they have to offer students. Grand said if he went he could drive down to Pa Pas' and go Turkey hunting or fishing. So there is that.

I think any university has many things to offer prospective students.

Get ready to scratch out a hefty check PaPa!
